I would rather see this fight also.

Mayweather's style is unusual, and, while I enjoy watching him, it doesn't provide the "entertainment value" that both Calzaghe and Pavlik do.

    • Pavlik got this man...

All these people on Calzaghe's **** now are making no legit points to how Calzaghe will slap his way to a victory. Pavlik will be the hardest puncher Cal has ever faced. You can talk about elusiveness this and speed that, but that didn't do Jermain Taylor any good did it? pavlik's proven he's a major player and if Calzaghe's camp thinks pavlik is an easy yet high profile win...they're in for war.

The only entertaining thing I've seen from Calzaghe was the booty bump he gave BHop. Other than that it's slapfest city with Calzaghe.

You don't read very well do you?

Joe has fought bigger punchers than Pavlik, and been hit flush by them (Lacy, Kessler, Eubank, etc.) so Pavliks power will not bother Joe.

Joe has fought people who were much better technically, and outboxed them (Hopkins, Kessler, Eubank, Reid etc.) so Pavlik is not going to be able to outbox Joe.

Pavlik is not as fast as Joe, Joe will beat him to the punch all night long.

Everyone raves about Pavlik's Jab, but Joe's is better and he will use it to reduce Pavlik's workrate considerably.

Pavlik fight's in straight lines, and Joe has outstanding movement. Joe, however, fights from everywhere, all kinds of angles. Last time I checked, Pavlik moves in one direction (not including when Joe puches him backwards) Pavlik will get picked off.

Joe has fought stronger (don't get confused with power) and bigger men and bullied them backwards (Lacy, Eubank, Kessler etc.) so Pavlik will not be coming forward. Can Pavlik fight on the back foot? He had better hope so...

Pavlik's chin is questionable at best. How many world class operators have been knocked down by Taylor? Taylor is the worst finisher I have ever seen, and gassed trying to end it. Joe is one of the best finishers I have seen, and will not tire himself out looking for the killer blow.

The only way Pavlik beats joe is with a stick while he sleeps, but in a ring, not a prayer.
You can try and argue the points I made all you like, doesn't change the fact that, unless Joe gets shot overnight, Pavlik leaves without his "0".

Because like most idiots, you have only ever seen that fight.

If you had seen the Lacy fight, you would not be saying this.

If you had seen the Kessler fight, you would not be saying this.

If you had seen the Mitchell fight, you would not be saying this.

If you had seen the Eubank fight, you would not be saying this.

There are plenty more, do I really need to continue?

True! The Ghost isn't the fight Calz should be eager to take! In my opinion Kelly KO's Joe! DONT GET ME WRONG!!! I think Calz is one of the top 3 fighters p4p in the world but Kelly's right hand may the BEST from 160-168! I feel as though NO chin has been REALLY tested until it has been tapped by a Kelly Pavlik right hand! I love Joe's style! his will and desire to WIN is matched by a very few in the sport today and thats what has made me a fan of his(after the B-Hop fight) but Kelly Pavlik is about the ONLY guy who can make Joe's worst nightmare(being KTFO) a reallity!!

If you like Joe based on the Hopkins fight, dig out a few older vids. Not only will you like him even more, but you will also see that a Pavlik right hand is nothing compared to some of the shots Joe has taken flush on the button and still thrown back.

The best recent example is the Kessler fight. Joe got caught with some of the best uppercuts (probably more damaging than a straight right in any case) I have ever seen, and didn't wobble once.

                    • Kessler, Lacy and Eubank were KO'ing bigger stronger men. They are also at a higher weight class. Suggesting Pavlik has the same ammount of power is an even bigger claim.

He landed more shots than Hopkins did, and took less. He won the fight also. If that is not outboxed I don't know what is.

You have clearly never seen Joe's jab in a crucial stage of a fight if you are comparing him to Pavlik and Taylor. Kessler, round 9, enjoy.

Yes Joe pushed Kessler back. Isn't Kessler much bigger and stronger (not to be confused with power) than Pavlik though? Just a thought...

Pavlik vs Taylor 1: Second round: Pavlik spends the entire round doing the "funky chicken" after being hit by a man who hasn't KO'd a world class opponent, ever. You're right, his chin is resolute.
-I don't think it's a stretch to claim that Pavlik has just as much if not more power. We're talking about 1 weight class difference and Pavlik has had some devastating KO's. I'm not sure I've seen those type of KO's from the guys you listed.

-Calzaghe's punch connects were GROSSLY inaccurate and the punches he did land were for the most part grazing blows during his amateurish looking flurries or light punches while clinching. The man who set up and landed a majority of the clean, effective punches was Hopkins.

-Calzaghe landed jabs against Kessler yet he couldn't land a jab to save his life against Hopkins. He started off, what, 0-35?

-I don't know if Kessler is stronger or bigger than Pavlik. What I do know is that his instinct is to hop backwards when someone presses him. He does it in all his fights.

-Give Taylor a break. Prior to fighting Hopkins he had a great KO percentage. Your criticizing him for not KO'ing Hopkins and Wright who have never been KO'ed in 50 + fights each against world class opposition, Ouma who there is less of an excuse but he's not going to KO everyone, Spinks who ran around the ring like a rabbit the entire night, and Pavlik who also has never been KO'ed.

Pavlik took SEVERAL flush shots in a row before going down against Calzaghe. Calzaghe got put on his ass by a single Hopkins shot and stunned by a single blow from Hopkins at the end of the 7th or 8th round so if we're going to question chins that's something to think about.
