Styles make fights....and Cotto's style is tailored for Mayweather. Mayweather by late stoppage.....WHY IS EVERYONE WANTING TO SEE THIS MISMATCH???

It's not a mismatch, maybe you can tell me why you believe it is? Mayweather isn't god. He was a great fighter but his inability to clean out his own division and still claim to be the best is always going to be a question.

I'm a fan of both fighters, but can you imagine if Mayweather even entertained the thought of fighting Gomez. He'd be laughed out of the sport.
He had just beaten mosley. The hardest opponent him or Mayweather have ever faced. Plus remember when floyd fought Baldomir? Floyd is scared and i was a huge fan,if he never fights cotto or a big welterwight champ i will lose alot of respect 4 a fighter i luved since seeing him fight 4 the 1st time

Well then Mayweather should step into the ring and prove it. Saying it doesn't mean a thing

                  He will eventually.
You and I both know that fight is going to end up happening.
Quit crying and wait for 2009.

I have seen countless thread about Cotto vs Mayweather go up and the bottom line is this.

If Mayweather stays retired and doesn't fight the Cotto's, Margaritos, Paul Williams or maybe even Pacquiao, then he is tarnashing his own legacy.

In order to be considered the best, you have to fight the best. I'm not saying Mayweather isn't a great fighter and a great champion but Oscar said it best in his new book when he said, "Mayweather is scared of defeat".

He fears losing and wants to go out undefeated but there will always be an asterisk next to his retirement because he's in the prime of his career and the best fighters of his generation are still out there.

Imagine if Sugar Ray Leonard decided never to fight Duran, Hagler or Hearns?? Where would he be in his legacy?

If Mayweather stays retired he will forever remembered as a great fighter but not THE greatest of his time, not even close. Because to BE the best, you must BEAT the best.
