Why are people downgrading Calzaghes win over Bernard Hopkins so much?

Bernard just dominated Antonio Tarver and defeated Winky Wright and then all of a sudden when Joe beats him he is a shot fighter?
He was top 3 p4p and was the best in the lightheavyweight division, it dosent matter if Joe beats Glen Johnson or Chad Dawson. They are not in the same league as Hopkins.

Joe Calzaghe looked horrible against a 43 year old man who had no offense after 4 rounds and looked competitive just on defense making Joe look like a ***** fighting his way out of spider webs.

Most people here think it is a good win, but for some, admitting this would be tantamount to admitting that Joe Calzaghe isn a good fighter, which they don't want to do, for reasons best known to themselves. It doesn't matter though, Hopkins was easily the most credible opponent Joe could have fought at LHW, imagine if he hadn't - "Joe ducked the real champ Hopkins to beat B class fighter Johnson/ Tarver/ Dawson".

Because the only reason Joe Calzaghe beat Hopkins was because he threw more punches. A win is a win, but an impressive win causes people to be more impressed. That's just a fact. If Floyd Mayweather barely squeeked by Hatton by decision people would be saying the same thing about him. Even still people are down grading the victory, but not as much as they might be.

When you're on top people will hate you. If you're on top and you're not impressive people will REALLY hate you. I respect Calzaghe, but the fact is his performance against Hopkins didn't drop jaws the way his performances against Kessler and Lacy did.
