No doubt Cotto had power but he also had huge weaknesses at the weight, and I think Hatton could have weathered the punches for long enough to wear down Cotto and take him late on. Basically Cotto is a slow starter and at 140 was prone to taking rounds off. By the time Cotto found his rhythm Hatton would have four or five good rounds under his belt and would be showing no signs of slowing.

At 147 I don't think Hatton could necessarily hurt Cotto in the same way and so his good early work would be essentially meaningless. And because Cotto takes fewer rounds off at welterweight Hatton would be unlikely to win a decision on activity.

LMAO, you gotta be kidding me. Cotto would murder Hatton if they both weighed 80 lbs due to HIV. I'm not a boxing expert but I definitely noticed that Hatton lunges in WIDE OPEN when he throws his left (I cant recall at this time if it's a hook or a uppercut to the body), he kept throwing the EXACT same way he threw the left when he got KTFO by Money May. This dude doesnt learn from his mistakes. Any elite fighter will beat him easily, no doubt. I bet Judah would take him out in less than 4 rounds.

You know, I hate to burst anyone's bubble. Hatton is wayyyyy overrated. I think he's just a notch above average, due to sheer activity. Other than that, he's very very basic. He seems like a great guy though, I have to admit.

Something else I'd like to note. Hatton suprised me today, I thought he was going to be in a clinch 95% of the time. Instead, he was in a clinch about 70% of the time. I honestly didnt think he was going to be throwing many punches tonight. I can't recall the last time I saw good ol' Ricky throw any punches.

Are you trying to say Cotto is only slightly better than Juan Lazcano at 140? What a joke. Learn a little about the sport of boxing before saying such ridiculous things...

So what you wanna take the worst possible version of Cotto and use that as a basis for Hatton winning, LOL. How about the Cotto of 4-6 fights before Malignaggi? When he was making weight easier and threw more combos.

People talk about how good Hatton was at jrWW but against WHOOOOO? This oppinion is based on beating 1 guys Tzu. Like I said even Cotto's short resume at jrWW has many guys who were a step up from 42 of Hattons 43 fights at jrWW. Torres, Malignaggi, Corley are the main examples.

the fact is Hatton fought just like the type of fighter who has had ONE big win in his career. Some of you seem to have forgotten the Collazo fight where he was gettin served worse than this. Just because Floyd said yes doesn't mean that Hatton was a "great" fighter. He confirmed this again tonight. If he was really "mentally defeated" he would had been much more conservative going in being afraid to get caught. He was trying to get Lascano out of there.

Oscar De La Hoya just isnt the same Golden Boy he used to be. No he wouldnt beat any weltwerweight or middleweight just because Floyd fought him. Floyd fought a GOOD fighter that night, just not a great fighter like Hatton.

And back to the thread title, someone in here said Hatton would destroy Cotto, i just cant remember who and searching isnt bringing anything up. Cotto would mutilate and **** Hatton. Maybe even tweeze his eyebrows.

Hatton STILL is comin in unprotected when he throws that mid left upper. Does he not learn? Cotto is a natural southpaw, one clean left hook would end Hatton's noise.
Hatton can beat a weight-drained 140 lbs cotto.

So why did he look exactly the same against Maussa, Urango, and Collazo? You going to blame that on Mayweather too?

Hatton beating a weight drained Cotto at 140? MAYBE. Like a Blue Moon shines on a dogs ass every once in awhile....

At 147? Just ****ing forget about it....
