Lets say PBF goes as speculated and fights DLH then Hatton and doesn't fight another top WW in 08. Would you conisder the winner of Cotto-Margarito the WW champ at the end of 08?

You can absolutely call them the champion of the division but i don't know if you can call them the best. Floyd Mayweather is no question the best boxer in boxing and untill someone beats him up that's not going to change.Comment

yeah. im not going with what corrupt organizations say. to me, the winner of that fight is the best WW because the best beats the best. The current WW champ already retired and hasnt fought a legitimate WW in over 2 and a half years or so. Im not gonna call him the best just because he PROLLY could beat either of them. if that were the case, then Vladimir Klit is the Featherweight Champ because he can prolly beat all the Featherweights out there. Kessler is the lightweight champ because he could prolly beat all the lightweight champs there.
It is my opinion that Champions are Champions because they prove they are, not because they "could be". General Consensus is that Michael Jordan is the best basketball player that ever lived. But there are many that say Earl "The Goat" Manigoat was better than Michael Jordan. Well, he didnt prove he was.Comment

How can you beat the man when the man is scared to death to even step one foot in the ring with you? Sorry but this is where I and the ring title BS disagree, there should always be some sort of action taken on a fighter who is sitting on a title.
in no way should a fighter be allowed to pick and chose who he fights, that is not how a champion is supposed to carry himself, a fighter is the champion becuase he has fought and beat the best, and also becuase he has defended his title against the best in his divison.
The ring title allows a fighter to keep a belt and hold the divison up for how ever long he wishes, and that is bull**** could you imagine Floyd only picking C level fighters for the rest of his career and still being called the champ? is that something that your willing to accept? if you answer yes your a ****ing moronComment

I do not try to predict what will happean in the future. If Floyd never fights Cotto it will end up like Pyror and Leonard.
To me you need to beat the man which is Floyd. Margarito is a very good fighter but he is not the man and to me you can not take the crown of the king w/o cutting off the kings head. This is how i view all champions though, i do not make exceptions.
I accept your opinion though, that is why i said you could count them as 1 and 1a, i can not view either one is better until they step foot in a ring. If they do not it hurts them both even if it is Floyd's fault.Comment
