3 straight "eye falling out" loonies. On this thread are "gory" pictures, sent in just to emphasize the "terrible" wounds. BUT....they clearly show that Klitschko's EYEis perfectly sound, fully open, and NOT impeded in any way. You 3 stooges, (and others) just take a look.

Just a thought....I wonder how the hell the "EDMONTON JOURNAL" came in proximity to V. Klitschko.??? After all.........I mean.....EDMONTON??

    No offense meant to Edmontonians.

The dog who didn't bark in the night.

I'm a very curious guy, and "Edmonton" and "Klitschko" sort of pinched my "curious" streak. So just now decided to look up the Edmonton Journal Klitschko interview, which, as we read, was "recent".

I found no hits for ANY KIND of interview, or mention of any Klitschko at all, so I wonder just how recent it was. Not saying it didn't happen; maybe others will have better results...if anyone cares.

Ask the ringside doctor who stopped the fight. Above the eye is where the nerves connect that could have been severed, blinding him for life. You talk tough because it's his health and not yours. For the sake of being right, you'd have him blind for life, wouldn't you?

        You are a savage.

No, he was going to fight Kirk Johnson but he dropped out and Vitali stepped in. There were no talks of retirement as he was looking for a big fight with Roy Jones who just beat Ruiz as mentioned in the interview linked.

Vitali beat him up and a rematch was demanded. Lewis kept teasing one but suddenly retired while Jones dropped down to light heavyweight and got knocked out.

BUT any other occasion like this, and I do mean ANY, where a fight ends like this on cuts with one fighter having a nice scorecard lead, and begging to continue and unhurt beyond the cuts, and there's ALWAYS a rematch. Lennox had a three-fight plan going into the Vitali fight, and of course he decided after that to retire and turn down a 20 million dollar payday for the rematch. So Vitali has somewhat of a point. There's a lot of Klitschko hate on all boxing boards, but if the situation was reversed, or the names changed, I can assure you the sentiment which is anti-Vitali would be very different.

Lemme ask you something straight up here... Not saying this was entirely what Lennox Lewis was thinking of doing because only he really knows that answer; however if a huge contract to fight a guy that you really don't think a whole lot of, with whatever baggage and bs that's written into the contract or maybe mentioned amongst managers/promoters, just happens to fall right into your lap just when you are (at the very least) at the point in your career when you are considering retiring; what would you do? Do you take the easy money??? Sure it didn't turn out to be as easy a night for Lennox as many people believed it would be, and Klitschko is in no way a Bum fighter, but it was obvious to every one that the young "Lion" Lewis was now a much older lion, and hey why not keep in the spotlight for a bit while the iron's blazing hot, and then maybe move on to something else in the sport of boxing... Then add a nice pay day for a farewell fight with a Win as pure icing on an ATG's legendary career... What more is there to really say once a Champion then says, that's it, I'm done boxing, I'm not going to fight in that ring anymore. Who's going to make him do it??? No one did...

Naah I'm no savage, just a guy interested in facts rather than fancies or "made-up" stories. Your comments about the "nerves above the eye" were fully covered by my letter on page 13 of this thread which you may not have read. It was just speculation by a (maybe 2) doctor, but challenged by others.

As for his future plans this was amply explained by Lewis in his PRE-FIGHT interview [the day before] in which he SPECIFICALLY mentioned Roy Jones whom he was VERY eager to fight. He mocked Jones' thoughts of fighting Holyfield ["too old and too slow"], that "if he wants to be a true heavyweright he has to come to "ME" [pointing to his own chest]Lennox Lewis". Lewis also said, that "they call him Superman, well I can tell you I have some Kryptonite for him, I'll remove the "S" from his chest" etc.

I've just looked at that part on the TV. I believe he also wanted to fight ANYONE who challenged his superiority, since he was a "5 dimensional fighter" .....unique.....the BEST" etc. and a lot more. I don't know about the "3 fight" item, but he obviously felt AND LOOKED absolutely fit, with NO intention of retiring. There' NO doubt in my mind but that Klitschko chased him into retirement, and that he never had ANY intention of honouring his return fight pledge-especially after seeing what Klitschko dod to Kirk Johnson, Lewis' original opponent. Consider only facts and high probabilities, look at it objectively please...........

Roy was never going to fight Lennox or Vitali (his mandatory) in a million years.

If I were Roy, I would've took either of them and get KO'ed; I would earn much more respect by taking on 240+ lb. men then fighting a milk-dud and going 1-2 against him when he never deserved a fight with me in the first place.

Interviewed about the fight by HBO, the doctor explained his decision: "When he raised his head up, his upper eyelid covered his field of vision," doctor Paul Wallace said. "At that point I had no other option but to stop the fight. If he had to move his head to see me, there was no way he could defend his way against a punch."

He couldn't see. Another 6 rounds of Lewis jab and right Vitali may have been blind. Thankz to the doc Vitali become a paper champ. Lewis was starting to pick around the 6 rounds and Vitali with one eye come on like he would have won. No point about this debate. Lewis won the fight. HAHAHA
Vitali all time great what a joke.

The danger of eyelid nerve damage.

ERBAD- Sorry I neglected to answer properly; at the time, I looked up the nerve paths in Greys Anatomy, and the eyebrow cut was in the middle, avoided it, and not dangerous. Also they were for the eyelid, not the eye, which nerves connect directly to the brain. The worst he might have suffered would have been a drooping eyelid.

                      Maybe we've over-exhausted this topic..........???
