    Floyd mayweather no doubt.

Floyd is more skilled defensivley, especially on the ropes where roy jones was actually quite vunerable at times, Jones talent was reflexed based, mayweather's talent is boxing based, thats why when jones's reflexes went he got knocked the **** out. To some degree this is where floyd is similar to toney, their actual boxing technique is so thorough, they can win fights off a basic high handed guard rather than relying on slipping punches with the hands down or dancing around the ring, mayweather and toney both have ability to lay on the ropes and kill guys just off timing.

Offsensively roy jones had far more power p4p and hit from crazy angles, mayweather is all about TIMING, this is why he was able to stun de la hoya at 154 and knockout ricky hatton, he thinks his way though a fight, he doesnt fight on instinct and he comes up with a clear cut method of which punch he wants to throw, the timing and when he's gonna throw it, he also has about 5 wins to win any fight.

Against judah he worked out that his shell wasnt gonna work against someone as fast as judah looking to go down the middle. So mayweather ditched the shell, used a basic guard and went to the body with uppercuts and used a short modifyied right hand that judah couldnt see coming, judah would have got stopped if not for the low blow.

Thats my opinion, roy jones is a great, but his talent was more to do with physical attributes and a reflexed based style.

Mayweather is a pure boxer and he is master of the techincal aspects of boxing. Im telling you he could stay on the ropes still, and most guys couldnt land one clean shot on this guy, he either knows what your gonna throw before you throw it, or has the angle covered already.

I never said roy wasnt smart, the man is a legend, personally in terms of pure BOXING, meaning the techincal aspects of defense, offense and fightplans, i tend to favour Mayweather and James Toney, there is even an arguement for toney being more talented boxing wise than mayweather, but this isnt the time.

        Its just my opinion though.

Great post. These are my thoughts, only better expressed.

Prime for prime I would say RJJ is possibly the better fighter, but in terms of who is the more complete boxer it has to be PBF. RJJ had much more natural athleticisim and talent though which allowed him to do technically unsound things even against HOF'ers.

PBF doesn't have that big of a talent lead versus elite fighters and against top talents he has already and would have to use his superior complete skills.

                  I agree.

I think Mayweather is the more technically sound fighter. Roy Jones had a style that revolved around athleticism. He was always faster and had better reflexes than his opposition until late in his career.

While we don't know how Mayweather will be when he is well past it like Roy (or if we will even get to see him fighting past his prime), I feel that Mayweather's defense will stick with him much longer than his speed and agility.

jones has the more natural athletic abilities but mayweather can do it all. I think mayweather is better defensively and he might not be a better puncher but he is a great puncher. I think floyd could be a great puncher when he chooses to be but I don't know if roy has the instincts to be as great defensively as mayweather. I could see this argument going either way easily as to who is the more complete fighter but I would have to go with mayweather on this one.

Mayweather is the more complete fighter by a mile. But Jones (more than?) compensates with natural gifts.
