Why should he be concerned with his pride? He already unified the heavyweight titles, beat most of the top heavyweights of his era, he had nothing left to prove.

You are forming a picture of me in your mind that is likely to be extremely inaccurate.

And yes, Lewis retired like a *****, a coward, a multi millionaire and the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. You lose.

yes you can never win an argument against a uk fan about a uk fighter no matter what the case may be. Just like cortez was the real reason hatton lost to floyd.

Is it better to retire a winner or go out getting your ass beat for no real reason other then pride? If he fought on it would have been cool but as long as he stays retired I am ok with a man calling it quits.

Now if he had remained active and decided not to fight Vitali again, that's another thing.

This is one time I agree with you 100%. A 37 y/o fighter who became a millionaire can retire whenever he feels he is ready. Lewis should be a role model for other successful fighters.

Lets look over the fact that Lewis was in the worst shape of his career yet still the one coming on late landing clean punches that were ripping apart Vitali's face.

Exactly, there's no need for a guy to keep fighting past his prime, risking his health, especially when he's accomplished so much. Plus the guy was able to pick up some gigs as an announcer and he's a likable guy.
