But Clottey is ranked 7 by RING and 5 by boxrec , etc. On the basis of good wins over nobody in particular.

For example, why is he ranked above Berto, even? Do you think Clottey beats Cintron? Quintana? Williams?
I think Clottey beats Cintron probably Quintana as well not sure about Williams though we will see what happens in the rematch between Quintana and Paul, I have a feeling it might be the same fight, I am only guessing here but I think that Williams cant make the weight and perform as effectivly as he has in the past.

Well who has Berto beaten? Who has Cintron beaten? I think Quintana and Williams should be ranked ahead of Clottey, but after that 147 is full of mostly unproven fighters. There's really no problem with Clottey being in the top 10. 5 is probably a little high, but 7 or 8 sounds about right to me.

Clottey is highly regarded because he fights similar to a 90's Ike Quartey with less power. He was easily beating Baldomir and landed a second low blow instead of deducting a point he was DQ'd. Before he faded he was controlling Margarito, and Clottey is an excellent in-fighter who is legitimately a top 10 welterweight. He needs to beat tje like of Judah and Cintron to be ranked higher, and he has the skillset to do so, but I would wonder who who fade first him or Judah, and he kills Cintron on the inside.

His inability to put away a shot, above-weight Corrales is troubling. He has rarely dominated an opponent.
He won virtually every round and put Corrales down 2-3 times. What more do you want?

If we went heads-up on their resumes, I could say that Clottey has not beaten a fighter on the level of David Estrada, for example. That is a debatable point.

Would you rank Zab above or below Josh? zab fought - but lost to - alot of the top WW's.

Well, if we compare that to what Mayweather and Castillo did to Diego at Chico's best weights, then Josh's performance doesn't seem so impressive.

I understand your point. And it is a good one. But a 130 pounder knocked Chico down half a dozen times. And castillo knocked Chico half-senseless. So you would think that a 170 pound guy should run through Chico at his first WW bout.

              Is that (kinda) fair?

Because he's a windmill, he has some great tools, even if his best win was over a lightweight

This thread isnt about Mayweather. Get off his **** for 1 moment. Baldomir was the REAL linear WW champion with wins over Judah & future Hall of Famer Arturo Gatti. BTW Baldomir has had a better career than Margarito to date.
