My girlfriend is a Manc student or was (graduated now) who doesn't really like boxing. She likes Joe Calzaghe and doesn't like it when I say negative **** about Ricky Hatton.

She also picked out the round Froch would knock out that polish bum last week. She said 'he is going to knock him out in four, he looks like they pulled him of a building site'

That's decent knowledge in my opinion, did look like they just found that guy.

They wont let boxing become big in america anymore because its too crazy of a contact sport. Too much blood for TV. fOX nEWS was talking about it this week, how america is so blood thirsty and all of these dumbass kids posting there street fights on youtube. Its ****ing sad that these parents are too lazy to raise there kids. Its sad that not even newspapers talk much about boxing anymore. In PR when Tito or Cotto fight they are Front Page. Thats how you know its big there and I expect it to be like that in mexico too. But **** it we have to live with what we get for now,unless one of these promotional companies tries to revive boxing to the mainstreem im all for it if they are permitted to.

I know the MMA will be on cbs but lets see how long it lasts before people start complaining about that too. Americans have turned soft.

I just read that KIMBO SLICE that MMA guy from the street is gonna be a presenter at the CMT country music awards on CBS and he is gonna have a fight on CBS for free may 31 at 6pm on saturday live.
He even had a cover on ESPN magazine!

To me it pisses me off that Boxers never get a cover! of any magazine only oscar and floyd jr and the only time is when its considered the biggest fight out.

They used to put boxers on SI all the time now no boxers, inside the magazine no boxing coverage...golf gets more coverage.

They should put class guys like kelly pavlik, pacman, cotto on these covers...they should let them go on leno, letterman, kimmel.

But instead the only guys allowed are MMA fighters like kimbo.

What can be done guys? why is Boxing being treated like nothing in America?

Kimbo is getting some premature hype like Tyson did in the 80s. How many other MMA stars get magazine covers? Huerta was on SI's cover but it was just a UFC article. Liddell was on the front of ESPN The Magazine - big deal.

The Kimbo hype is to promote the fledgling show on CBS - CBS and Showtime are owned by the same parent company and Showtime has a lot invested in ELiteXC...

Another reason why boxing doesn't get much hype, though, is that no one knows who the heavyweight champ is, no one can pronounce the titlists' names, and when we do get a hyped fight card like DLH-Mayweather, it's 50 bucks, the undercard sucks, and the main event is a snoozer...

You're not going to get too many casual fans that way - Kimbo KOing James Thompson on free TV within a minute - that'll be more exciting to the casual sports/entertainment fan
