Who is the biggest Joe Calzaghe fan here?

Trust me, as long as you keep posting ignorant BS, I'll keep responding.
Like this little gem "Joe Calzaghe would lose to any ATG you put him in there with, therefore he's a bum."

No, he lost because he was at the end of his career. Simple as that. If he wasn't at the end of his career he would've kept fighting after the Thomspon losses. It is pretty obvious Eubank was not in his prime when he and Joe fought.Comment

Who said Joe Calzaghe is a bum??? Because I never have, not once.
Joe Calzaghe is a good fighter, not a great fighter.Comment

I wanted to test the waters and see how many Cal fans came out of the woodwork. It looks as though I'm stuck debating you probably. I understand you're impatient being that you're 21 and all; I'll get to my points here in a few minutes. I'm going to start another thread so we can debate, o.k.?Comment

If you don't believe that Calzaghe is a great fighter, you must have some extremely strange criteria for greatness. The simple truth is that the man has never been beaten as a pro, dominated his chosen division for upwards of ten years, unified it, beating everyone who was supposed to have beaten him along the way, then moved up a division and in his very first fight at the new weight beaten the linear and consensus champion who alos happened to be a top 10 p4p fighter. If those achievements do not count as great in your book, then there must truly be few, if any boxers who are. What Calzaghe has done, is basically unparallelled in boxing history, and denying him respect for it is ludicrous, it smacks of having a negative animus towards a fighter who doesn't happen to be one of your favourites. The reason I ask is, I'm interested in having a civil debate about Joe's so-called greatness. I believe it does not exist. I do not believe he is a great fighter and I would like to debate someone who truly believes he is. Inquire within and I'll create a separate thread for our discussion.
Your criticism of Calzaghe's 'non-existent' greatness centres around a facile and superficial dismissal of his opponents. It seems from where I am standing that the only fighters Calzaghe could have on his record that he could get credit for from fans like you are Jones, Toney, Hopkins, Wright, Tarver and Trinidad, or in other words a mixture of the absolutely top names on Hopkins and Jones resumes. This is so one sided it is untrue, you can't cherry pick the very best results from two fighters and then say another boxer, from another country has to have beaten them too. I can flip it around and say that Jones and Hopkins should have faced Calzaghe earlier to prove themselves, that Jones should have fought Eubank, Benn and Collins, that Hopkins should have fought Toney and vice versa. I haven't seen any of these supposed greats be too eager to fight the consensus best young lion around the division either, Kessler, except Calzaghe.
I think the simplest answer to your question is this: if Calzaghe is so weak and there are other greater fighters out there, how come none of them are the current Ring SMW and LHW champ? If Calzaghe can do it then a true great should have no problem, should he?Comment

Joe Calzaghe is a Great HOF Fighter..
Can't be bothered to keep defending him caus all the haters keep saying the same ****.
- He nearly lost to a 43yr old Hopkins.
- Roy Jones Jnr would KO him in his prime (caus Calzaghe gets hurt alot)
- He just slaps (Yes, he does slap. Wins fights though)
- Eubank was old when he fought him.
- He got a gift to Robin Reid.
- He hasn't fought many good fighters (Eubank, Lacy, Kessler and Hopkins are a few of the big names he has beaten).
Find some new material ffs.Comment
