Help Please! What is the reason for the Mexican/Puerto Rican dislike?

I see it exists here, I'm just asking Why?

Is there a legit reason or is this over some Bull****?

I never heard of the Pr/Mx dislike growing up, the worst thing my dad said of a Puerto Rican, was that Camacho was a runner. Then again, he also said that Jorge Paez was a ****in clown!!!!

Is the divide and beef real or Im i leaving in a cave like Osama?

IMO it's ****** nationalistic BS. Rivalry is one thing and thats cool but usually idiots on both sides just start leveling racist taunts. Pointless. Boxing is an ethnically, racially charged, nationalistic sport for a good portion of fans and I'm aware of that but fighters themselves almost never think that way.

It didn't start with Cotto. I mean in real life , sports plays a part cause we are both extremely proud people and refuse to back down. This is in reponse to CottoisBetter's thread where he went off on Mexicans.

I grew up in New Brunswick. A large percentage of the Mexicans out here are "fresh off a truck". So the Puerto Ricans from around here who speak decent English and are three and four generations deep look down on the immigrants who can't get jobs due to lack of green cards and don't know English for whatever reason. But to be honest I'm not one of those Ricans with a flag hanging from my rear view. I've always been a bit disgusted by our sometimes senseless and over done pride. Its one thing to be proud but its another to be a completely undeserving elitist prick.

I thought us Mexican were cool with puerto ricans. I do know that when it was said that Cotto was to fight Margarito the puerto ricans started hatting, especially when Cintron was fighting. It always seems to me that the puerto ricans always start the **** here.

But in real life, i don't hear any Mexican say anything about a puerto rican. So on the street level it doesn't exist.

Generally speaking, Mexicans aren't especially big on anyone who isn't Mexican.. But you didn't ask how or why it started.

I worked with a Mexican guy once that said they hate Puerto Ricans. I don't know why but it does exist.

in boxing because their the two biggest latino communities in boxing. In real life, i havent seen it but i guess its the same reason most other countries (latin) dont like mexicans......because everyone thinks every hispanic person is mexican.

So most of the time they make fun of hispanics steriotypes(whites, blacks, asian etc.) its because of Mexicans(since they are the majority
