Pavlik beat Miranda (who nobody wanted to fight) and beat Taylor two times (nobody had ever beat Taylor.) 3 fights dont make him great, but he is on a good path.

Taylor was never hurt against Wright, but I had him (JT) losing that fight.

Pavlik has beaten legitimate fighters at 160 and I don't believe that the recent bunch of fighters at MW were awful. Pavlik beat Zuniga, Taylor and Miranda...then you have Abraham, Sturm and Wright...not bad.

i could say that about any fighter in history that they hit hard when the actually sat down on thier punches ,ive heard that said about Muhammad ALI

Taylor was hurt against Winy IMO he has a bad habbit of going back in a straight line and i thought Winky hurt him on the ropes

me thinks Zuniga is poor ,Miranda is one of those overated fighters that people tip to win but he never comes up with the goods but is still seen as underated

Pavlik has just turned 26 and so still has a long career ahead of him.

He has several decent KO wins (Zuniga, McKart, and Zertuche) and three excellent wins (Miranda, Taylor x 2). His record of 33-0 with 29 KOs is very impressive.

There are always going to be some people who will never respect him, no matter what he achieves or who he defeats. But he will always have many fans because of his boxing ability and because of his aggressive, come-forward, fearless fighting style!

I have a feeling he will accomplish a lot in the next eight years or so. The best is yet to come for Kelly!

it seems we all love Pavlik for his style but when we match him up against other skilled MW /SMW we have him 2nd best everytime so my question is was he in the right place at the right time rather than being a top top fighter

Taylor was tailor made for him ,poor Stamina ,lack of focus, bad defence, questionable chin
That's the only famous white guy in boxing who is on the spot he is as the result of HARD WORK and NATURAL TALENT, not hype jobs and fighting bums all his career. He is a worthy champion at just 25 years of age!!! He beat the best to get to be in his spot and you have to respect that. It happens the man is also a good person and seems to have his mind right. Add a great sense of humor and you have STAR written all over Kelly.

A combination of both, but in a sense you can always say someone is in the "right place at the right time" unless they're in a ridiculously strong era.

Pavlik is a good young fighter with room and time to improve. I hope he does well.

Pavlik is the MW champ deservedly, but to get there he hasn't had to beat the highest standard of opposition in sufficient numbers that we can be sure of exactly how good he is. For me he still has more to do.

I'm inclined to agree that Pavlik is a case of "right time/right place". He isn't terribly skilled though he has a decent jab a strong right hand, he isn't the hardest puncher though he packs enough to stop someone if he catches them right, he doesn;t have the best chin though he can get up and finish strong. But he is better than the previous champ who never really seemed to believe he deserved to be the champ.

                      I agree with that part.
