Taylor has a great jab and Calzaghe literally does nothing to overcome a good jab. He just runs in there.

Jab, Straight right hand, all night for Taylor. He avoided the ropes brilliantly against Pavlik in that rematch. No doubt he is terrible fighting off the ropes, he is no james toney, but he has become very good at avoiding them.

So in the center of the ring, i think Taylor outclasses Calzaghe with Calzaghe floundering around like a ****** for the much of the fight.

Does anybody honestly believe that Calzaghe would have beaten HOpkins if HOpkins had the legs to avoid the ropes???

I still get a chuckle when people call Calzaghe a good boxer. He is a good FIGHTER. He has very limited boxing ability, and it'll take a guy like Taylor with his quick jab to expose that.

Calzaghe-Pavlik is a much more even and close fight. Id pick Taylor by stoppage over Calzaghe in the late rounds.
    please tell me you're joking
this has to be one of the worst posts i have ever read

one thing you can't do against calzaghe is jab him, nobody can out-jab calzaghe, watch the kessler fight before you make yourself sound like a noob
taylor's defense is nothing more than average...
calzaghe would make taylor quit on his stool...

i agree with some of what you're saying.

I belive taylor is the much superior boxer and if taylor can keep the fight in the middle of the ring calzaghe doesnt have nearly as good of a chance...

taylor still has power to worry about from calzaghe...it isnt power to that of pavlik but he cant just eat shots like he thought he could do in the first pavlik fight...

in taylor manages to stay off the ropes i'd say he wins a decent decision (UD or SD)...

taylor overall is a well rounded boxer/puncher...he has flaws but is decent even in the areas where he's flawed...(excluding fighting on the ropes).

i disagree...i dont think pavlik v. calzaghe would be that close...in fact i'd pick pavlik to win by a much bigger margin than taylor...taylor v. calzaghe would be close and the 12th round would count...

i think pavlik has the ability, youth, and power to either tire out calzaghe or earn himself a stoppage late in the fight (in the 10th round or after).

sounds crazy but its my opinion.

Taylor is a very good fighter, but he does not have the mentality thing down. Unless he catches Calzaghe with a great shot to get his respect early, Calzaghe will be all over him with those pitty patty punches and probably eke out a close decision. Don't give me that crap about Hopkins dropping Calzaghe early either because we all know Taylor hits like a mack truck compared to Hopkins.

Taylor is too one dementional and lacks power, Calzaghe is a thinker and can attack from angles.

Taylor would get Jeff Lacy-ed if he fought Calzaghe. Except not.

Taylor would do better than Pavlik against Calzaghe but I think he stops both, Taylor gets worn down late, Pavlik gets knocked out during the seventh or eight after Joe realises that Pavlik isn't able to hit him. Taylor was never really a true champion, Pavlik is too one-dimensional.

they both lost to hopkins but calzaghe lost worse so i guess taylor wins that settles it.

joe has no power though so i don't really understand how in your mind he's knocking everyone out left and right. if you say he wins by decision people would take your more seriously but knockout no.when was his last knockout that was unassisted by a ref? never?
