Jermain Taylor is a very good fighter, but he is not on Calzaghe's level....Calzaghe would win a wide UD over Taylor.

Didn't Taylor dodge Calzaghe a year or so ago.

Did you really say Calzaghe has no answer for a great jab?

Additionally, the size difference would allow Calzaghe to be less cautious towards Taylor's power, like a boxer puncher needs his opponent to be.

That, coupled with Taylor's affinity for hanging out on the ropes, would make the fight a Calzaghe scoring festival.
could i agree with you more???....

goddamn kball are you really that ignorant?....youve been watching boxing for a while...its time you get some actual boxing knowledge...
i guess its just the hate for calzaghe.....

i will love to see your opinion of him when he wins 10 out of 12 rounds against pavlik...

Taylor has a great jab and Calzaghe literally does nothing to overcome a good jab. He just runs in there.

Jab, Straight right hand, all night for Taylor. He avoided the ropes brilliantly against Pavlik in that rematch. No doubt he is terrible fighting off the ropes, he is no james toney, but he has become very good at avoiding them.

So in the center of the ring, i think Taylor outclasses Calzaghe with Calzaghe floundering around like a ****** for the much of the fight.

Does anybody honestly believe that Calzaghe would have beaten HOpkins if HOpkins had the legs to avoid the ropes???

I still get a chuckle when people call Calzaghe a good boxer. He is a good FIGHTER. He has very limited boxing ability, and it'll take a guy like Taylor with his quick jab to expose that.

Calzaghe-Pavlik is a much more even and close fight. Id pick Taylor by stoppage over Calzaghe in the late rounds.
i normally agree with you, but on this one, i see your point, but i don't whole heartedly agree. you make valid point at which i'm not going to deny. i think taylor is talented and has some better technical skills, but what you said about calzaghe being a good fighter, that is what usually seperates a boxer form a fighter, i think it takes a better FIGHTER to beat a good or even a great boxer. mainly due to the fact that FIGHTERS get what they want in the ring, and usually that is what calzaghe gets, minus the hopkins fight.
the majority of the time the FIGHTER gets the boxer out of his game, where as a boxer tends to be somewhat limited by technicalities, i think a FIGHTER has the best of both worlds, being able to mix it up and get the job done by any means necessary. now, i'm not talking about a brawler, i'm speaking more of the boxer/puncher, the guy that takes any opening possible, instead of fighting with a set structure so to speak.

i'm not saying who is better, but i think calzaghe has a definite edge over taylor, mainly experience and volume, and the ability to change pace and adapt. calzaghe and taylor both looked like amateurs against hopkins and basically the only reason they both won was due to the fact that they threw more punches, neither were effective against hopkins, but enough to get the judges to sway their way.

a fight between taylor and calzaghe, i would give it calzaghe, he's got size, speed, better footwork, and can fight better on the inside as compared to taylor. i think it would come down to who can fight their fight and calzaghe has a better chance at that over taylor.

taylor is good but he, right now, needs to get some confidence back, and get some wins under his belt again. also he needs to fight guys that are his size so he's not fooling himself thinking he's got superior power over his opponents like he was before he fought hopkins, where he was ko'ing smaller guys.

taylor is good and a very talented boxer, but in a match up against calzaghe, i'd say calzaghe by decision.........in an exciting fight.

I am going to double up on Abrham, Cotto, and Calzaghe beating Pavlik. Not bad if I do say so myself.

He's a better athlete and has fought better competition in the sense that he challenged himself against the best EARLY in his career.

I'm not sure about the rest of that. Calzaghe is def. the smarter fighter. Taylor doesn't have good adjustments or backup plans.
