But the thing is...Taylor isn't really that good of a technical fighter. For having such a good jab he's rarely used it in the last 3 years. Taylor's right isn't as good as Hopkins and I don't see it landing much.

Calzaghe also makes a ****load of adjustments. He's probably the second best fighter who does this right now. Maybe the first. He's to much for Taylor.

Of course... I doubt it ever comes off.

Seriously though, it will be like Christmas for me if it gets signed. I personally just think that Pavlik is good, but is going to lose sometime soon, and Calzaghe is going to be the perfect guy to do it if they ever fight.

Taylor gasses in nearly EVERY fight.

Pavliks' work rate beat him in the second IMO. Calzaghe doesn't need an iron punch to beat Taylor, just a lot of punches and push him on the ropes. Kessler is a lot better than Taylor and a lot bigger, Calzaghe bossed him around.

        Taylor will be no different.

Taylor is a good boxer nothing more ... if the fight was to ever happen the edge that seperates a taylor from a calzaghe would show and joe would just out box taylor ... calzaghe by UD or KO in the late rounds

I would definately say the first.

I have never really seen Calzaghe's opening game plan work well enough (except against Lacy), and he always finds a way to morph his game plan into something that lets him dominate the last few rounds. His defense and offense change to fit the flow of the fight. He's just incredible at that.

I agree about Taylor not being a technical genius as everyone says. He has a ton of flaws, he just has power behind his punches that make people hesitant to try to capitalize on his mistakes.

Yea but Pavlik is also REALLY heavyhanded and he his REALLY accurate, and Taylor was extremely weary of his power.

Taylor would have nothing to worry about againts Calzaghe

How can you question his desire and heart. The guy fought his ass off against Winky throwing punches even while tired earning a draw.

He fought his ass off in the rematch against Pavlik.

The guy has been tested plenty and his heart shouldn't be a question.

Btw, I agree with the thread creator although I'm not sure Taylor would since he too is a bit sloppy and off balance. His footwork isn't the greatest.

I think I remember Ouma and Spinks backing Taylor up too though.

Seems like Calzaghe can at least punch as hard as Cory Spinks, considering he is a 154 pounder and Calzaghe is a 175 pounder.

                    That's where you're wrong.

If Calzaghe can make a much bigger Kessler reluctant to punch then he can do the same to Taylor. Everyones arguement for Kessler winning was that he would walk through Calzaghe's "slaps" and pressure him for the win.

Calzaghe is a very strong guy and I think a lot of people underestimate that.
