There's nothing wrong with backing the white guys but don't pretend to be objective if that's the way you are, otherwise your lyin to yourself.Last edited by deanrw; 05-11-2008, 01:26 AM.

I couldn't favor Vitali over Ali. Tough pressure fighters with great stamina were prime and past prime Ali's foil; Chuvalo, Norton, Frazier and the like. The Marciano that beatdown the uber fast and slick LaStarza would have troubled him, maybe a prime Dempsey as well. I actually like their chances of pulling it off.
Still Ali outjabbed Liston, and I don't think Vitali would do much better. I can't see Vitali beating a guy he couldn't outjab. Ali takes a decision I think. I wouldn't bet on the fluke thumb to the eyelid happening to often so I don't think Vitali gets stopped on a cut, he wasn't a Cooper or Quarry that bled buckets everytime the wind changed direction.
One handed(his right at that) Vitali did do well against the southpaw Byrd before ******ly quitting. Byrd is quick and slick but his jab can't touch Ali's. Ali's purposeful mobility, quick and long stinging jab would be too much for Vitali who I doubt could match his workrate.
Vitali should **** up Ike though. Durable and nutty, Ike liked to walk through punishment to dish out his own which would be disasterous against Vitali. Like Tua, he also has tough whiskers that makes a one punch Byrd blasting unlikely after eating shots to get on the inside.Last edited by Thunder Lips; 05-11-2008, 01:29 AM.

Obviously he wasn't worried about eating Byrd's jabs and combos but he wasn't worried about Tua hammering him all night him either.

Despite his reputation, Ike does get hurt here.

When the smaller, shorter armed Tua got busy after the 5th, he also outjabbed Ike giving him much trouble in the rounds he most clearly lost. I think Vitali would simply jab Ike to death. Like Rahman, Ike only really showed huge volume punching against the stationary Tua and most of that was jabs that he had trouble really landing clean. Vitali wouldn't trade with him on the inside either.

The only Ali that Vitali would KO is the one that Spinks, Holmes and Berbick beat on! The Ali that fought Sonny Liston would've boxed circles inside a square around Vitali! He would've danced and stung all night without Vitali landing anything close to KO punch! Vitali would get so frustrated and probably quit and call it a shoulder or knee problem! Foreman. gov' was maybe the hardest punching HW in history and he fell short or fell on his back when it came time to match BOXING I.Q.'s with the greatest! Vitali is too slow to even look like he deserves to be in the ring with a young primed Cassius or the Ali that ruled the HW division before the U.S gov't took his title! No way
