i think bringing back floyd sr; and showing he can last (stamina wise) he has a good chance; he also has to keep his jab going like he did for the first half of the mayweather fight...

on my scorecard he basically (besides maybe around or two) was winning when he was using the jab.

Okay so whats your take on what Floyd will do diffrent in the rematch???

Because ists not just about what Oscar will/can do etc...it takes to to tango.

Maybe Forbes is just a "little" better tune up then DLH thought?
I mean, he was a "tune up", right?
Sure, Manny was going to slob on the knob...

I'm not shocked, surprised, or anything after tonight.
Forbes is a good fighter, and DLH can't put a BUM away...

Well i believe floyd and company cant treat the rematch like the first fight.

I dont think floyd can rely on oscar fading down the stretch; since oscar punched more; and had more punches directed towards him tonight and still didnt fade; floyd and team would be crazy to bank on that this time.

Freddy Roach IS a good trainer but for this task floyd sr is probably the best trainer oscar could go with.

Floyd jr hasnt done ANYTHING so far to give us an indication he will do anything different; especially since he hasnt fought since last december.

he's taking a LONG layoff that i dont advise as a good idea.

Oscar can't be taken lightly so floyd is going to have to have a good solid training camp (especially since he's not taking a "tune-up" fight).

Floyd isnt exactly young himself (at 30; or is he 31 now?).

If i were floyd (or his team) i'd work on my own jab; not bank on fighting an easy fight.

Floyd has to work his jab; and use his solid defense. I don't believe oscar will score a knockout and i dont believe floyd will either. this will be another chess match...floyd needs make oscar pay for any starring matches he starts (he did this in the first fight against floyd and floyd made him pay and he did it tonight against forbes).

floyd's best chance to land the cleanest punches are to beat de la hoya to the punch. floyd's reflexes and handspeed are easily superior to that of de la hoya; floyd should only engage oscar to land his shots and then he should get on his toes and get out of the way; when oscar attempts to engage he needs to stick and move with the jab; not allow oscar close range and be selective with his punches (like he did in the first fight) so he doesnt give oscar much to counter.

however i think there will be one big difference in this fight compared to the last time; dont be surprised if oscar decides to pick up where he left off tonight by fighting taller and jabbing floyd.

oscar has the height AND the reach to fight this fight differently than the last...with floyd sr in his corner i think oscar will fight on the outside a little bit more than last time...i think since he cant compete with mayweather's speed (like he attempted to last time) he will stay on the outside and attempt to beat mayweather's speed with good timing (Including jabs and counterpunching)...

floyd should watch for this and i believe he will work with roger to cancel out this new change in the fight.

biggest differences for Oscar tonight was the number of punches he threw, over 700 I believe vs the number he threw against mayweather 580 something, better use of the jab, smarter moverment, did not waste his energy. Enough of a difference to beat Mayweather? maybe not but he will make it a much better fight if he fights this way. Also interesting was the fact that DLH's face seems to swell more with the extra weight drain.

his face did swell easier than before...

im surprised he looked so energized (as to how he looked in previous fights recently at 154); i thought this would have the opposite effect.

the loss of 4 pounds seems to make him look better in my opinion and less tired.

anyone else notice this in the fight?

i thought he would tire more easily but he looked like he could have fought 15 rounds tonight instead of 12...

and dont forget not only did de la hoya use more punches this fight; forbes punches AT HIM more than mayweather did.

I believe DLH-Mayweather 2 will be a closer fight than the first one. DLH hadn't looked that good in a while but I doubt he beats Mayweather.

                  good honest post.

at least you are more honest than some posters who actually said, "mayweather will either win by tko/ko or win all 12 rounds".

its going to be close...probably another split decision but im saying i like de la hoya's chances.

                    1. Oscar will fade down the stretch just like last time aginst Mayweather...why you ask??...because unlike tonight Forbes wont be standing in front of ODH like a statue....Oscar will have to use his legs to keep up with Floyd and he will get tired just like last time.

                    2. Im sure when Mayweather Sr. created his style he didnt think of a way to beat it as well...hes lying....he has no answers for Jr....Him and Floyd are so seperate its just like hes another trainer he knows nothing about beating Jr.

                    3. Floyd is the best fighter in thwe world..he was Decemeber 8th, 2007 and he is today May 4th, 2008..your'e right nothings changed

                    4. Love or hate Floyd...the man is probly working out and training as we speak..hes a freak of nature whos addicted to training.

                    5. Floyd is the best fighter on the planet he doesnt need tune up fights...and from what I read and hear his camps always go smooth because Floyd is a tireless worker....Floyd loves money...Boxing brings Floyd money..you bet your ass Floyds plans on keeping it that way...he'll never slack up in his traning.

                    6. Floyd is 30..and he is relatively young...hes never been knocked down...never been in a war...never been rocked more then once...hes relatively young in the ring..his hands are another issue.

                    7. Floyd doesnt jab...and doesnt needs to....His lead right and leaping left hook is his jab.

                    8. Oscar was getting beat to the punch tonight by Forbes..so you can only imagine what Mayweather will do.

                    9. Oscar at 36 is not the guy to beat Mayweather..he CANT do it.

Right he was fighting Steve Forbes.

Thats why Oscar chose him so people would be tricked into thinking he had a shot agasnst Floyd so people would buy the rematch.
