Yes the win over Kessler was impressive, but it will not be the same result with Pavlik.

I doubt that Kessler throws any harder than Pavlik at this point in their careers, add to that the fact that Pavlik has seen speed before, and he not only handled it, he knocked em' out.

Pavlik is also very smart, and he sticks to his gameplan. Don't expect Pavlik to walk out there and try to land rights on Joe's chin all night - he won't do that, instead he will hurt Calzaghe to the body, and work the jab, round after round, it will slow Joe C. down in both footspeed and punching ability. That is when Pavlik will pour it on.

By the 9th or 10th Round, Calzaghe will be open for the headshots, and Pavlik will unleash the big shots then. Mark my words, Pavlik will get a TKO win in this one, Calzaghe will not be able to keep Pavlik off of him, you will see Pavlik's confidence grow with every round.

Calzaghe should retire now, but he won't, he is a fighter, and they all think they can win just one more - even if it means they have to resort to fighting other fighters, who, are unfortunately also way past their prime, like Roy Jones Jr., and yes - like Bernard Hopkins...

Calzaghe's hands will break if he tries for the KO. No KO for Calzaghe.

      Wide decision for Calzaghe.
Clear, concise and straight to a very good point. Great post.

Against anybody else and I would probably agree with you, but Calzaghe is a different breed. No way Pavlik wins this one.

Well, yours too is well though out, but neither do I agree. You already know my thoughts, but I have to say it is a brave man who posts that Joe Calzaghe will be outworked and outlasted in a fight. You have balls.

Sountraveler speaks alot of bull**** with his arguement though, he said Pavlik will throw more? When the **** has pavlik thrown over 1,000 punches per fight? Joe Calzaghe is a super middle weight and his workrate is way better then pavlik, thats why pavlik doesn't take this fight. Why go up against someone who is bigger, faster, and better workrate. It would be dumb if he did, I wish Pavlik was ****** because then Calzaghe/Pavlik would happen tommorrow.

I wouldn't call it bull****. I think its just a case of looking at Kelly harder and liking him more, and kind of diregarding Joe a bit. We all do it with our favourite fighters.

As I said though, it takes a brave man to say that someone will outwork, outlast, and eventually KO Joe Calzaghe, three things no-one has ever done, which is why I disagree with his post.

I'm sure kelly would take the fight, but i don't think joe and his team will do it. Like someone said before Joe would prefer kelly to have a larger fanbase so the fight can be a mega fight. Right now Kelly is not going to bring the publicity that joe would prefer, so it's not happening right now.
This is more of a Fan's fight

I still don't get how people can say Pavlik would beat Calzaghe when Kessler obviously failed. If you're looking at the skillsets of both fighters, Kessler does what Pavlik does only better. Kessler is stronger and is technically more sound than pavlik too. Kessler learned to throw lead uppercuts when he saw Calzaghe came in with his head low. Pavlik might have a slight edge over Kessler in terms of grit and being able to deal with adversity. Otherwise Pavliks never seen an all around fighter like Calzaghe that can punch from all types of angles and move his upper body/feet. Not to mention Joe is naturally bigger and has a granite chin even for his weightclass. He lost a bit of his speed by moving up to light heavy but he was still dancing around with the best of them against Kessler just last year. If he goes to super middle as a catch weight against pavlik, he'd gain back some of his speed.

As for all the way out or all the way in, Calzaghe would tear Pavlik a new one on the inside. Pavlik needs to stay away but, being Pavlik, he won't, and he'll receive a beating because of it.
You know what? Everyone said Miranda would bully him and over power him...look what happened.

Everyone said Pavlik is wide open and orthodox and tailor made for Taylor...look what happened.

You can say Pavlik is tailor made for Joe, but Pavlik has overcome every obstacle placed in front of him. Taylor was a bigger obstacle than Joe and Pavlik handled him.
