there's been loads of talk of calzaghe v jones or toney in their primes, but rather than talk about fictional fights that are slightly meaningless now who is out there that you would put calzaghe as the underdog for?

id love to see him go out on something to really shut up his critics...to be honest i think glen johnson is the toughest fight out there for him....

Currently now, at this time, nobody can beat Calzaghe out there. That's a fact. Europe or US, not even Pavlik. Calzaghe is a bad fight for Pavlik because of Pavliks style.

I agree that Johnson is the hardest fight for Calzaghe, but how big Johnson in America?

i think he will never impress the yanks who think his style sucks.

Personally tho i would like the following as a fan..

          Pavlik ASAP in america
Jones Jr in November in wales
          Dawson in wales or america.

2 undefeated fighters and a legend.

I don't think you can make Joe the genuine underdog against anyone at SMW or LHW anymore, though a lot of people think RJJ will beat him.

For me he should fight both RJJ and Pavlik if he wants to impress the US. he would be beating their past and (supposedly) their future. Of the two i think RJJ would be the most dangerous, since his big losses have come by KO and Joe doesn't look likely to KO anyone anymore.

I think that fighting both Tarver and Dawson would be a good move, maybe even my personal favourite option. I am in two minds whether beating the 'names' of RJJ and Pavlik would be seen as more or less impresive than beating the two US champs in his weight class, both of whom are 'names' and easily comparable to RJJ and Pavlik right now in terms of ability. Tarver in particular, since he beat RJJ twice.

Who knows? It might be he could fight them all and still not get recognition!

Pavlik or Jones. Those are the two biggest names in the US at or around his weight division.

Agreed but beating RJJ he won't get any credit for.
