Ali said when shavers hit him, it was the closest to death hed ever felt....

Ali said himself he was the hardest puncher he ever fought

and he fought liston, frazier, holmes, AND foreman

i think shavers is prolly even more hard hitting than tyson

Just to add to the conversation, I think I read that Tyson said he considers Donovan "Razor" Ruddock the most powerful puncher he ever fought.

The answer is and will continue to be Shavers.

I'll never understand how Holmes got up from that straight right Shavers knocked him down with. It would've decapitated me.

Okay, but in all seriousness its Earnie Shavers and then George Foreman.

To be honest I cant think of anyone with a heavier right hand than Earnie Shavers, Holmes and Ali said he hit them the hardest.....and dont forget Holmes also took the best punches from a peak Tyson. Ali also took the best punches of Foreman and Liston so their verdicts should be respected.

Since the mid 80s theres no doubt Bowe, Lewis, either Klitchko or Ibeabuchi could really hit too!
That is why Shavers should be the natural answer

                  Earnie Shavers
                  George Foreman
                  Max Baer

                  Mike Tyson
                  Donovan Ruddock
                  David Tua
                  Tommy Morrison
                  Gerry Cooney
                  Rocky Marciano...

I'm gonna stop right there because the fact is there have been monsters that never won the title that hit harder than any champion.

Out of the ones I know, Shavers gets my vote as top overall explosive, concussion-giver.

I actually haven't seen enough of Shavers, better get ordering some dvd's.

Remember Mike blew Holmes out of the water inside 4, I know Earnie fought a prime Holmes but food for thought. Holmes hasn't been stopped since to my knowledge, hell Mercer couldn't dent him, Mike just walked through him.
