I agree to a certain extent, there's no question on how powerful and devastating Cotto's hooks to the body are, but Tony covers his body better than his chin in my opinion, and his inside game is top notch. Cintron hit Tony with some good body shots and it really didn't bother him much, Cotto's body shots and Cintron's might be comparing apples to oranges but he is afterall a big puncher (Cintron that is). Tony might have a slimier lower body but I'm sure he can take body shots well. If Cotto were to land body shots on Tony and Tony were to land right hands and uppercut bombs on Cotto's chin, I see Tony KO'ing Cotto, and not the other way around.
Will Cottos chin hold up to Margaritos power???

Can you envision any scenario where Cotto wins this? What in your opinion is the wrong fight for Tony to fight and the correct one for Cotto to fight?I agree to a certain extent, there's no question on how powerful and devastating Cotto's hooks to the body are, but Tony covers his body better than his chin in my opinion, and his inside game is top notch. It is a great fight and it will come down to who can enforce their will first. If Cotto can start digging to Antonio's body early without taking too much heat, he will get to Margarito and slow him down. If Margarito's volume of punches makes Cotto weary, he will wear Cotto down.
Both guys have a ton of will and stubborness and could potentially ruin each other when they meet.Comment

Here's some PBCS for your delusional Cotto hatin' ass.
This is funny as hell. He talks about Gomez in the beginning but then has great strategy for Margie at the end.Comment

I made a prediction thread months ago describing both fighters abilities and disadvantages. I say it's going to be a rough fight for both fighters, they are both great at what they do. Margarito the throwback True Mexican Warrior brawler with skills who punches you out the whole fight, throwing 100+ punches per round, missing and landing the punches that count. He is a workhorse and he seldom slows down his pace, has a chin made out of a molten rock from the fiery pits of the abyss. He is 30 years old and hungry, I think he is even hungrier than Miguel at this point, he is due and this is his much awaited big payday.
Miguel on the other hand has proven the naysayer (such as myself) that he can actually box and is not a one-dimensional brawler, he is a strong dude as well, hits hard and accurately, good body hooks and tons of heart. But he's got a porcelain chin, even if he chooses to box Tony, he will land an overhand right or big uppercut to Cotto's easy to penetrate defense and will get KO'ed. Cotto does not posses Mayweather boxing skills, so the people already running their mouths saying he will run circles with Tony are delusional at best.
Cotto like Margarito likes to brawl, but the problem is he hates getting hit, he doesn't take punches well, Margarito does. For the first time in his career Cotto is going to be the pray and Margarito the hunter, throwing and getting hit, coming back and forth pressuring Cotto and taking him to a place he is never been before. I have no doubt in my mind Margarito is going to win this fight, absolutely no doubt.Comment

Margarito will want to make a statement here - this is what he's dreamed of.Comment

I would also add, however, that Margarito can be hurt. Both to the body and the head. He's been dropped before and staggered on a few occasions, most notably against the underrated and extremely tough Danny Perez and Daniel Santos as well. So a Cotto victory is certainly plausible.
Still, I give the edge to Margarito. Three years ago, I went out and bought his career collection (most of it, anyway). I was stunned at what I saw. A come-forward brawler who is capable of firing jabs, boxing (not in the conventional sense as he's so gangly and awkward), and very, very crafty.
Even against Cintron, he gave the kid so many angles - it was a schooling. Don't underestimate Margarito's skills.Comment

Exactly, people don't see the big picture when it comes down to judging Margarito's boxing skills. Just because he is slower than your average Welter and because he misses a lot of his punches does not mean he is a bad boxer. When you throw 100+ per round you are bound to miss at least %50 of them unless you are hitting a freaking heavy bag with arms, it's just plain and basic common sense. This is how Margarito chooses to fight, he likes to brawl and break you down physically and mentally.I would also add, however, that Margarito can be hurt. Both to the body and the head. He's been dropped before and staggered on a few occasions, most notably against the underrated and extremely tough Danny Perez and Daniel Santos as well. So a Cotto victory is certainly plausible.

Not everyone in the world is blessed with such raw talent and speed like Mayweather, Sugar Ray Robinson, and many other great technical boxers. Margarito has been fighting since he was 15 years old and he is at the peak of his career at this moment, for Cotto fans to just say "Cotto will school Margarito" or "Cotto will run circles, jabbing him all night" are ignorant to say the least. Cotto has never ran all night circling and throwing jabs in the fights that I have seen, he likes to engage because he is aware of his skills and power, he is confident about this and I don't see him doing something different against Margarito. Cotto is a warrior at heart .But unfortunately for Cotto, he will be in for a rude awakening when he finds out Tony is standing toe-to-toe against him, not backing down and packing down the firepower to really hurt Cotto.Comment

Cintron is a good long range puncher, he can not stand fighting in the inside, that's the reason Feliciano gave him trouble. Cotto's hardest shots come fighting on the inside. Should be a good one.I agree to a certain extent, there's no question on how powerful and devastating Cotto's hooks to the body are, but Tony covers his body better than his chin in my opinion, and his inside game is top notch.
