It makes perfect sense when you and the fighter are beefing and that fighter has told you that he can and WILL leave you given the opportunity. It puts pressure on said fighter and also allows the promoter to keep power in his hands by pitting him against another stablemate. Plan and basic common sense.
This is Bob Arum we're talking about here. Like I said, the same Arum who REFUSED to let Floyd fight Cotto when that was the ONLY match at 140 Floyd wanted aside from Gatti. Instead, Arum gave him Cotto's sparring partner. The same Arum who can't stop talking about how Floyd wants no part of Cotto.
Look, I'm of the opinion Floyd wanted no parts of Margarito. He had not even fully settled into 147 - why would he face the division's longest reigning champ? But I also think a healthy part of it was due to money- a little more than risk.
I think I can provide one from around that time where Floyd was actually giving his promoter credit..okay, you go first. ill wait.Last edited by C'MONMANG'; 04-29-2008, 01:30 PM.Comment

of course mayweather wanted to fight cotto when he was just a prospect and at that time the fight was worth no money. now that cotto has established himself as a elite fighter and the fight is worth some real money mayweather wants no part of him. you are just showing more and more the cowardly ways of maywweather. he wants easy fights. he wont fight a real challenge no matter how much money is on the table.
I'm done here. What you guys fail to realize is that the more you diss Mayweather as a coward, the more you diminish a victory by Margarito over him. You can support a guy but be objective.Comment
