I take your point about technical boxers, which is why neither Jones (say what you want he isn't technical) nor Pavlik have me quaking in my boots but I think Dawson might beat Joe. I don't think Reid was anywhere near beating Calzaghe and he said himself in the immediate aftermath that he didn't think he beat him, but it was one of Calzaghe's tougher fights, yes.

On Toney v Calzaghe though, I feel we are destined to eternally disagree!
I already said that i am a fan of Calzaghe and that my dream fight would be him against Dawson so i have no biased against him. Its just that hes not beating a peak Toney.

People really shouldn't lump those 2 fights together - those performances are worlds apart. Toney got absolutely schooled for 8 1/2 rounds of the Nunn fight and would lose to him 9 times out of 10. Funnily enough, Nunn owned him with a high volume southpaw game. Sound familiar?

                  Nice imagination you've got there.

Typically no, they don't fight alike. In that fight there were definite similarities though and Calzaghe doesn't fade late.

Nah, I'm his dealer. Nunn at his best beats any MW/SMW of the last 20 years.

Nunn is a better pure boxer than Calzaghe(who is not really a pure boxer to begin with) and he punches harder, is slicker, better defensively and does not get squared up. Calzaghe is completely vulnerable to obvious counter punches when he has his opponents on the ropes flurrying, which is why Hopkins was able to take advantage of it as well as Reid. In both fights, he was open for counter right hands and thats Toney's favorite punch.

Better comparison would be Calzaghe to Vasili Jirov. Not becuase I'm trying to prove a point, but becuase Jirov is a southpaw, high work rate, is fast, squared up but Jirov actually brings educated pressure. Like i said, Calzaghe is wide open when he throws those volume punches.
