Sorry, this one isn't really up for debate.
    1. Tarver was not at the "peak of his powers."
    2. Tarver had just made the Rocky movie where he put on like 40 lbs.

However, even if I don't believe Tarver is an incredible win for Hopkins, I agree that at this point that judgement is only an opinion, and currently the facts and belts are on Tarver's side.

Nice to be able to argue with someone who has a meaningful opinion.

      Cheers to that!

Yeah...he put on about 15lbs for the role - he walks around at 200. hate to pull rank but I spoke to him several times prior to that bout about any weight issues.

But...Tarver was coming off back to back victories over Jones & Johnson. At what point was he ranked higher?

I think both fighters have chances to win this fight, but if Roy don't take this fight it'll be a very bad move on his part I think his the naturally bigger, stronger, quicker man. FIGHT CALZAGHE EVEN FOR FREE.

And Jones did 560k for John Ruiz. This is finance, not who can fill up the cheap seats.

Furthermore, Planet Hollywood took a LOSS on Calzaghe-Hopkins. A LOSS.

So Calzaghe's career high payday is a regular one for Jones. Thank you.
It was a LOSS because they tought that Hopkins could put some asses in the seats. They expected "only" 6K ppl from the UK which is still a good number. Hopkins couldn't sell a few thousand seats.
Man the fight will be in 2008, not 10 years ago so nobody gives a ****. Jones PPV before Trinidad could not sell ****!

Newsflash...the Jones-Trinidad PPV DID happen. Sorry, can't ignore it and talk about the past! Here's another newsflash...Jones-Ruiz did HIGHER than Jones-Tito.

Here's some more news for you - the next Calzaghe PPV will be his FIRST.

And here's a final newsbrief for you - the only way he GETS on PPV is to fight Jones.

                Are we done here?

LOL@ you talking about Calzaghe making $4 mil for the biggest fight of his career when Jones used to make more for mandatories.

Jones is not crazy for wanting a fair split of the $$$ for thsi fight - he is crazy for wanting to fight Calzaghe at this stage of his career though.

alzaghe got 8M $ against Hopkins, which is more than Jones purse against Tito.

roys intention wasnt to make a lot of money on the tito fight... it was just to win the fight, and get back on track... tito was gauranteed 10 M... and don and roy split the rest, that was the deal... which is another reason roy doesnt want the bigger purse with joe either... its just to get the fight...
