    Joe beating Bernard was IMPRESSIVE

Moving up a weight class, fighting in the states for the first time and after being knocked down in the first round he went on to beat Hopkins easily and Hopkins is 12-0 (8) against southpaws... It's not the same as Taylor and Jones winning because they're not southpaws, Calzaghe deserves a lot more credit than he is getting for this win.

Joe Calzaghe wins. It's what he does.

Even when things aren't really going right for him. Still wins.

Hopefully it's come forward fighter in his next fight. They say Jones but to look impressive they should go all out for Pavlik.

      He didn't beat him easily.

Joe beating Hopkins in that manner can only be impressive to someone who had a low opinion of him. Those people might now be sitting there saying "I was wrong, I guess Calzaghe is just as good as Jermain Taylor". But that's not really a great achievement. And it certainly isn't enough to be considered p4p #1 or better than a peak Roy Jones or anything like that.

No he did not. Joe expended much effort and won and even then managed a split at best.

Joe is not a P4P great but I think even before Hopkins he had solidified his place as best Super Middler ever and united all the meningful straps in his weight something Roy never did.

So I guess I agree and disagree.

Jermain Taylor is not a Southpaw, Calzaghe is.

Hopkins had an incredible record against Southpaws including 2 wins in 2 of his last fights against them.

Most other fighters would've crumbled after the flash knockdown from an American fighter on American soil, Calzaghe deserves a lot more credit for getting back into the fight and from rounds 4 through 12 dominating the action for the most part, at least in terms of forcing the action and LANDING MORE PUNCHES which is pretty much what boxing is all about, although many seem to have forgotten this....apparently feining injury and catching Calz with one of two punches every minute in comparison to Calz's 10 is now considered legendary and "OLD SKOOL", yep, Sugar Ray would have loved Bernard!

I must admit B-hop was better in the first few rounds than I thought he would be, but instead of just deteriorating and showing his tiredness in the form of getting slower and caught with more shots like any other respectable losing fighter, he cheats, holds and butts like his life depended on it, which I dont mind because at the end of the day I wouldn't like getting caught with shot after shot from Calzaghe, and a win is a win is a win as they say however you try to get it....but its the fact after the fight he incredulously claims robbery and tries to sell you his 10 rounds of farce as the stuff of Legends. Bollocks.

Calz would need to be lot sharper for Roy Jones however, that would be a much more open fight. I do think Calz is getting past his best now though and I'm not sure about him at Light Heavy, he should definitely make Roy Jones his last fight.

i thought Hopkins made Calzaghe look awfull & IMO Calzaghe is massively overated based on what i saw against B Hop i can only imagine how bad a prime James Toney would have made Calzaghe look ,a guy who was a defensive genious

Which fighter has looked good against Hopkins? Let alone Southpaw.

Hopkins is a hard fighter to look good against. He leads with his head and holds all the time. He is the master of hit and hold. Calzaghe clearly won the fight but as for the fight itself it wasn't pretty. Hopkins can sell tickets, he'll fight again. Don't be surprised to see Hopkins vs Taylor III in the fall. No one sellls a fight like Bernard

I suppose Roy did but even that fight was a bit boring.
