Hopkins could still have increased his work rate and it would have been less than Joe's even if it did cut down on his output. Calzaghe has always been faster and more willing to let punches go. Calzaghe was not hurt by the knockdown last night and actually took bigger shots later on in the fight and has taken bigger punches in other fights. Also, Hopkins took three minutes to recover from a low shot. I have never seen anybody take that long to recover from such a shot and it is debatable whether Hopkins would have lasted the distance had he not taken that break.
Mate you are only killing your own argument , he took the spell because he is 43 and cant put out like he used too he must pace and conserve at 43 , the fight was scored a split that alone says it dont take much to give him the win , 10yrs in age and he romps it in , make them both 35 and Bhop wins , give Bhop the 8 yr advantage and he stops Cal , the fight as it happened was too close for mine considering Bhops age , cong**** and enjoy your win Mozza as your not changing my mind and Im not changing yours .
i wouldnt say hopkins is in his prime but hes certainly one of those fighters who peaked at a later age, hes still a p4p top ten fighter and is probably the best 40+ year old fighter i have ever seen, its a good win for calzaghe, winky couldnt beat him, calzaghe beat him, and no ones rubbishing winky right now for losing to hopkins so why would you give calzaghe **** for winning against him??????
Beating Hopkins at 43 is a big win. A win as big as any one else who has beat Hopkins, other than RJJ.
Because any boxing coach will tell you. A Spoiler can be at his best until 50. Right now Hopkins is fighting as good as i have seen him, and the same as i have seen him for a long time.
So before you stop saying hes 43 it doesn't matter. It was a big win. Joe beat him at his own game, when Hopkins was at his best!
That's the worst Hopkins by far I've ever seen. That and Taylor 1. Time to hang them up.
