Have you ever seen Hopkins defence as good as it is now? Has it been throughout his career?

An improved defence can make up for a limited attack.

Im not saying hes as good as he was against Tito. But hes not far off from my view.

Keep the discussion going, with no name calling, facts and boxing opinion.
Lets reverse the situation , Bhop is 35 and Cal is 43 what happens ? my money is on a Bhop KO , if you can see that you can see the relevance of 43

hmm...I never really thought Eastman was too good. all I remember is his fight against Hopkins and that he lost against Joppy. and that was after Joppy got brutalized by Trinidad I think.

I thought Winky won in a very close fight, basically for the same reasons that Calzaghe beat Hopkins in a very close fight. I didnt think Hopkins landed as many clean shots on Winky as he did Calzaghe, but I thought Calzaghe landed more punches on Hopkins than Winky did. I had them both beating Hopkins by only a round, Calzaghe by maybe 2 rounds.

A good reason that Hopkins lost the fight with Calzaghe was that he was outworked because he spent a lot of the time running and hugging, correct? It would make sense that Hopkins would do better if he could have been more active then, right? cause he was clearly landing the much more meaningful punches.

I don't give a **** about his face. Calzaghe's face wasn't badly messed up either and it wouldn't matter anyway because that's not how fights are judged.

The face was only one of the points Mozza a little sarcastic I admit but the other points you have no answer for .

Hopkins has said he's never been better stronger or fitter, Shilston said he has the body of a 27 year old.

                Hopkins 43>Hopkins 36

Having the body of a 27 year old doesnt mean you fight like one.

Hopkins could still have increased his work rate and it would have been less than Joe's even if it did cut down on his output. Calzaghe has always been faster and more willing to let punches go. Calzaghe was not hurt by the knockdown last night and actually took bigger shots later on in the fight and has taken bigger punches in other fights. Also, Hopkins took three minutes to recover from a low shot. I have never seen anybody take that long to recover from such a shot and it is debatable whether Hopkins would have lasted the distance had he not taken that break.

Can you spell hype its a bit like the older fighters that all say I fight smarter now ,,,, seriously whatever Hopkins can do now he could have done better as a younger man thats a fact and very provable , Hopkins now would be a better specimen than 95% of the worlds poulation of 27 year olds , the other 5% that are better than him are 27 yr old professional athletes !
