If Hopkins could look like the consummate postshot master (like he is on a poor man's scale in his current senior citizen state.)...........what would Roy look like.

Runs, if a 30 year old Roy could fight a 36 year old Calzaghe, then you might be right. Roy does not handle constant pressure and workrate any better than Hopkins does, especially not anymore. I mean, did you see the Glen Johnson fight? Roy was uncomfortable from the opening bell from that relentless pressure. Much like Hopkins was uncomfortable with it for most of the fight last night.

Roy will move better than Hopkins, and fight with more than one hand, so of course he'll make it a better fight than last night, but he'll get hit more simply because he's not so ultra-defensive like Hopkins. It'll be a good fight, but Joe should absolutely be favored.

Roy will have the advantage of being physically stronger than Joe, like Hopkins was, and Roy will have a touch of handspeed on Joe, still. But it's one-punch handspeed, the combonation handspeed, especially inside, I give to Joe. Joe doesn't really have to worry about getting stopped by Roy, just like he didn't have to worry about getting stopped by Bernard. Bernard will hit you with a clean shot, but he won't jump on you afterwards to finish you off, and neither will Roy anymore (and he only did it selectively even in his prime against weak opponents).

Joe will be even more comfortable at 175, and with how he can perform against the US "legends" and he'll have 50,000 welshmen willing him to victory. I mean, after watching Joe fight throughout his career, and knowing Roy and the pressure he'll be under from the crowd and Calzaghe, I'm really not sure how anyone could say Roy will "toy" with Calzaghe.

I agree with this. But he can beat select LHW's. He beat the Ring champ last night. And he can beat Roy. Dawson might be another story. As is Pavlik, who will eventually be a LHW.

Since when does Roy beat a good fighter anymore? How about a great one? Prime Roy would murder Joe, but not this Roy. People need to understand that Joe doesnt always fight the style he used against Hopkins. Hopkins is better then Jones is now and Calzaghe had to fight that style of fight to win. He would look alot better against Roy.

I would just suggest that you don't confuse Joe Calzaghe with what was left of Tito Trinidad. This is a whole different ballgame and I think Joe will make Jones feel his age. Hopkins has a style that makes everyone he fights look bad.
