I would be shocked it they didn't fight at 175. It would be better for both fighters.

      Yall musta forgot.

Roy spends too much time on the ropes these days, he did that even back in his prime but he can't get away with it anymore.
He can't use his legs and he can't throw enough punches.

I could see him landing a fast combination on Calzaghe while laying on the ropes like he did against Hanshaw (he was almost outworked even in that fight) but I wouldn't bet on it.

For some reason, i think Roy will get outpointed/outslapped by Joe in a potential matchup. Roy of recent has turned into a defensive fighter. Pavlik has a better chance of beating him. He's a come forward fighter, that has a long reach and good power.

yeap. Pavlik, Tarver and Dawson.. have better chances. Hell, if Miranda were to land , who knows?

RJ is past it and his reflexes are not like they used to be. I see Jones with his back to ropes. 50% of this fight.

Roy does not handle constant pressure and workrate any better than Hopkins does, especially not anymore. I mean, did you see the Glen Johnson fight? Roy was uncomfortable from the opening bell from that relentless pressure. Much like Hopkins was uncomfortable with it for most of the fight last night.

Roy will move better than Hopkins, and fight with more than one hand, so of course he'll make it a better fight than last night, but he'll get hit more simply because he's not so ultra-defensive like Hopkins. It'll be a good fight, but Joe should absolutely be favored.

Roy will have the advantage of being physically stronger than Joe, like Hopkins was, and Roy will have a touch of handspeed on Joe, still. But it's one-punch handspeed, the combonation handspeed, especially inside, I give to Joe. Joe doesn't really have to worry about getting stopped by Roy, just like he didn't have to worry about getting stopped by Bernard. Bernard will hit you with a clean shot, but he won't jump on you afterwards to finish you off, and neither will Roy anymore (and he only did it selectively even in his prime against weak opponents).

Joe will be even more comfortable at 175, and with how he can perform against the US "legends" and he'll have 50,000 welshmen willing him to victory. I mean, after watching Joe fight throughout his career, and knowing Roy and the pressure he'll be under from the crowd and Calzaghe, I'm really not sure how anyone could say Roy will "toy" with Calzaghe.

You're usually a pretty smart poster. I almost think you made a troll thread and suckered me into it! If so, it worked.
It's obvious that Calzahge pressures at key times, and that in coalition with him throwing punches in numbers it poses a major threat to Roy at his current age.

But on the other hand, I think I was blinded by my fan bias as a Hopkins fan and denied the fact he's a total codger. lol I mean that version of Nard was awesome in the comeback, but it seems clear that it's the time to get out when he's now fought just like a Grandpa who was whacking someone with a cane in a discerning fashion.

Oh and the like the mugger got popped twenty seconds into the fray. Just to point that out.
