Can't he accept another defense first?

They shouldn't punish Dawson if he chooses to try to unify.
Dawson won the title over a year ago. He had a couple of chances to unify - instead he fought a "D" opponent in Jesus Ruiz, and then Glen Johnson.

Adrian Diaconu has earned his shot at the real title, and he shouldn't be kept waiting any longer.

Here's the article that i read of *********.com.

''There is no rest for the "Road Warrior" Glen Johnson. Just a week after his controversial decision loss against Chad Dawson, the people’s light heavyweight champion will travel to Bucharest, Romania to serve as color commentator for the interim WBC light heavyweight championship bout between unbeaten warriors Adrian Diaconu and Chris Henry."This should be a great fight between two undefeated fighters who don’t want to see their '0' go," said Johnson. "And not only do I get to offer my take on the fight to the viewing audience, but I’m also getting the opportunity to do some scouting work on a possible future opponent. So it’s the best of both worlds for me."
      Friday, April 18 2008''

Johnson is looking to face Diaconu since he won the interim title today. The winner of that will get a shot at Dawson when he beats Tarver.

I swear to god Diaconu and Dawson were supposed to fight before but Diaconu pulled out.

Am I crazy or is that true?

If he pulled out before, I believe he can wait now.

        Just my opinion.

I know he wants to face Diaconu, and he's been moaning about a rematch with Dawson too.

But the fight mandated by the WBC is Dawson vs. Diaconu - it should be a good one!

Exactly, he pulled out because of an injury that occurred in training. He had his golden opportunity and since he pulled out with only weeks to go until the fight, he can wait for a shot.

But he was injured - he didn't pull out because he didn't want the fight.

Diaconu wanted to face Dawson when he recovered late last year, but then agreed to fight for an interim title while Dawson fought Johnson.

So he's already been waiting a long time and deserves his shot!

OK. I guess I am dumbfounded why he so much deserves the shot.
I mean the man beat Rico Hoye and now this Henry dude that nobody has heard of. And others I've never heard of.

I guess the WBC has it's own criteria. It doesn't make sense to me.

At least Dawson has fought some recognizable names.

I just don't get where Diaconu deserves anything yet.

That's all. Maybe I am missing the boat on this one.

Who did Dawson fight before Adamek? His first title defense last June was against a "D" level fighter.

Diaconu won an eliminator against Hoye, and now has won an interim title against a undefeated young contender.

Dawspn is equally guilty but at least he beat some names.
Daswon fought a d level fighter it's true. but god at least the guy fought carl daniels and ian gardner and eric harding. Then now Adamek and Johnson.
                    Diaconu has fought who again?

The WBC rankings are pitiful. I don't even know who deserves what anymore based on their critertia.

Carl Daniels, Ian Gardner and Eric Harding are not even as well known as Rico Hoye (who was in a title fight previously), and those three are not better fighters than Chris Henry.
