think about it, if you're pound for pound number 1, and a consensus "unbeatable" fighter, then u get a guy calling you out who says he beat u in the amateurs and now you're ducking him. so u fight him, barely squeak by and some even think u LOST the first fight, so u feel OBLIGATED to fight him again. u get KO'ed and LOSE for the first time in your career. your very next fight, u get KO'ed by another guy. u fight tarver again (and i was rooting for jones, by the way), and u fight for 5 rounds, then run the rest of the fight, and almost get KO'ed again in the 11th!

no, buddy...............roy fought tarver once. second time, he got starched, and the third time, when it looked like he had achance of even eding the fight in the fifth, roy decided to run the last 6-7 rounds of the fight. he wants none of tarver, wants none of calzaghe either- even tho i think he'll beat calzaghe. roy was on that calzaghe **** for no other reason than to spite the negotiations betw. hopkins and calzaghe. is it a wonder how long it took them to actually SIGN the fight after it was first discussed, right after

I'd like to see this fight, undefeated prospects are just what Jones needs to revive his carreer. If he wins, it's against a legit LHW and it would mean more money in a 4th Tarver fight seeing as people will see this fight as much more competitive. I'd give Roy a better chance against Tarver than Johnson who looked awesome against Dawson this weekend

Now you're really twisting facts. How is Jones even in position to bargain for more than a 40/60 split, Calzaghe is an undefeated super champ and doesn't even want to fight Jones in the first place seeing as he feels he's on the decline. There's more money to be made in Britain seeing as Calzaghe attracts about 6 times the fans most prizefighters attract in the US.

At this point in time, being that was 4 years ago, and hes coming off 3 wins... each fighter being better than the last, I dont think roy is AFRAID of tarver in the least bit...

Beating tito sure doesnt mean roy is back... it also doesnt mean he cant still win against someone.. he wont dominate like he did in his prime... but that doesnt mean he still cant compete at the elite level anymore, win lose or draw.. he is still a competitive fighter for anyone

And he DOES want calzaghe, and I truly believe he WOULD be willing to do whatever just to get that fight signed...

But just because the IBF is ranking him shouldnt mean they can make him fight this guy or another, they should have no say over roy.... i know roy wants calzaghe, if he wins that is...

IT's standard practice for sanctioning bodies to "order" eliminators. When properly implemented, it's a useful method of ensuring that the top-rated fighters don't sit on their rankings. Of course, more often than not the real issue is who they have ranked to begin with.

That said, Roy's free to say "Thanks but no thanks" and instead await the winner of Hopkins-Calzaghe. It's not like he'll be banned from boxing if he passes on a fight with Tavoris Cloud (who, IMO, brutally knocks out Roy at this stage of their respective careers)

WRONG... i was on btalk.com i read and listened to the back and forth arguiing... about the contract... bernard agreed to a 50/50 split... roy was excited...

roy got the contract.. and it said AFTER goldenboy took 25% then the purse would be split, 50/50.... that ISNT 50/50, i remember specifically listening to the audio talking about what the contract had said... then:

ROY... NOT BERNARD... ROY, said lets do it 60/40 winner takes 60... loser takes 40... and bernard never answered the calls back from the site owner

ALSO, bernard went on record and said his career was better than roys and to put a poll up on the site.... yeah ... 68% of the entire site picked roys career... and after that, we never heard from bernard.

Yes, the III fight was very irritating, because you could see clearly, if roy would of stepped up, he could of possibly knocked out tarver, he was clearly the more talented fighter, but was gunshy... and thats resonable being he had just been KOed twice.

he hasnt been the same because he got knocked out when he was 35, and now hes 39... THATS why the kid isnt the same anymore.. hes older.
