What happens if Margarito gets a breakthrough win? He has already defeated Clottey, and Cintrón (twice), and still cannot sell a PPV against a shot fighter like JCC Jr can.

If he were to defeat Cotto, he would be in a position similar to Quintana's. Quite possibly looking at a rematch against the former champion (in this case, Cotto) and not getting paid enough. And with 5 losses on his belt, and one of those against a Puertorican, unavenged. Mexicans don't take that lightly.

[QUOTE=WetSexyLlamaPR;3368643]I watched Clottey-Marg and the first 4 rounds before Clottey got injured was a shutout. Clottey evaded and blocked Tony's shots and landed his left hooks to the head and the body pretty much at will. His combinations were effective and as well. To me if Clottey could land left hooks to the head, body, block and avoid alot of the incoming and land his combinations before injured. In Margarito's defense he had only fought twice in the 20 months before the fight but everything that Clottey was effective with is stuff Cotto's known for. Plus Cotto's handspeed is better than Clottey's. Is it too much of a leap to think Cotto's gonna win and win comfortably? Just wondering what you guys think.[/QUOTE

Cotto and Clottey have completely different styles.Clotty is more of a counter puncher with a tight Winky Wright like defense.while Cotto is boxer/slugger/counter puncher who does`nt have a good a defense as Clotty.

In my opinion the best tactic for Cotto Is to fight Margarito on the inside ,
keep on smothering him and work the body and the head.

Margarito would be at a disadvantage up close cause of his longer body and arms.

Clottey arguably has a better offense then Cotto...Double and triple left hooks to the face and head...a solid jab..........etc.

Clottey also is better defensively...and so far has shown a better chin.

I believe Cotto could get knocked out.

I must say that Cotto is definitely a couple of echelons higher than Clottey. The fight should be tough and competitive but it will be a suprisingly one sided decision for Cotto. Cotto is too young, too hungry, and too talented.. The issues to overcome are that Tony has an incredible chin, and he just wont stop coming. Neither fighter has fought a fighter with similar attributes or skills, therefore it should be interesting.

Look at all the posts regarding Mayweather v.s. Cotto.

Mayweather vs. Cotto is the most hyped fight in boxing right now, and if Cotto wins against Margarito, and Mayweather wins against Oscar, if they make the fight, it will be a huge fight. Much bigger than anything with a Margarito name in it.

I've even seen JCC Jr. DVDs at Wal-Mart. "La leyenda continúa".

Ok, so you think Mayweather vs. Cotto is going to get made? When exactly?

Ive noticed that you seem to show in most of your post that you favor black people over the rest.

Who do you think would win between Cotto and Clottey??

And if you really think that Clottey has a better jab than Cotto, then Im not sure which fights you have watched with Clottey or Cotto. If Clottey would have had better offense, he should have performed a little better over a fighter of the quality of Baldomir.

Yes, Clottey, you know, the guy who was beating him until he damaged his hand? And Cintrón, you know, the former champion with the highest KO percentage among WW champions, arguably the harder puncher at WW, and who has only lost to Margarito.

Unless of course you consider Clottey and Cintrón journeymen, bums, or shot fighters...

if Julio César Chávez Jr. fights Clottey and defeats him, or better yet, had defeated Cintrón (Puertorican) and had claimed a WW championship belt, he is instantly a West Coast fanchise (if he isn't yet).

Addison are you pretending Margarito is such a tough opponent so you can gloat when Cotto beats him? Margarito is not the great fighter you make him out to be.
