So what if he makes racist comments publicly on a regular basis?
It is just words.
Anyone who gets upset over words is merely immature and certainly not strong mentally.
I have actually heard that Hopkins is a member of that evil, racist organisation called 'The National of Islam' but I am not 100% sure if that is true or not.
Either way, I hope all us British and Americans boxing fans enjoy the fight and can put the fight behind us in a few weeks, no matter what the result.
I love America and the American people and some imbecile (who has claimed in the past that it is minus 25 degrees in London) is not going to make me dislike America, no matter how hard he tries.
We can let this one slide... afterall HOPKINS' ANCESTORS WERE BRUTALLY ENSLAVED FOR 200+ YEARS!!!!
Hahaha.
Good one, man.
You're right to point out the absurdity of certain anti-White racists.
The Ottaman Empire took thousands upon thousands of White people as ****** hundreds of years ago, from both England and what is now the Republic of Ireland, but White people are not allowed to attack Turks and other Arabs racially just because of this.

Turks and Arabs are Caucasians as well so people don't look at it the same way. I, however, do see your point.
Anyway, this forum already has already had way too many ****** race-flame wars, and Bhop is just making it worse.
BERNARD HOPKINS has once again risked playing the race card ahead of Saturday night's showdown with Joe Calzaghe.
Hopkins, who recently declared he would "never lose to a white man", drew a parallel with basketball Hall of Famer Larry Bird, saying: "You can look at Calzaghe's situation as someone who has been blown up more than the others.
"It reminds me of Larry Bird – great basketball player but did he get his notoriety based on how he could play, or that he could play more than the average guy of his colour could play?"
What a prick
For history's sake, this "Larry Bird being great because he is white" "argument" was started, if I'm not mistaken, by Isaiah Thomas and Dennis Rodman in the late 80's - early 90's.

What's in bold is the racist slur we must condemn and boo Hopkins for (even though he doesn't know better or just selling the fight, in any case reprovable) Now it is true whites have it much easier than blacks and you don't even need to be white, just look white (Oscar de la Hoya). If you are white and decent, you are a raising star, your career is carefully managed until you are in your 30's. If you are black and decent (same quality as the white guy) you are fed to much more experienced fighters to make them look good. Even the media, fans and noise point in that direction. Example: If Floyd Mayweather was white the talk would be "why hasn't Floyd retired yet? He has proved himself in 5 categories having dominated 4 of them and conquered the belts in all of them!" The fans and the media would not be pressing an old white fighter to take more risks and he would feel ok to retire: Ottke, Marciano, unknown, unknown,...
In this part Hopkins has a valid point. But there's no need to suggest one's skill is directly tied to race, that's not true.
