So true. I only heard of him from some computer game from back in the day. Jordan vs Bird or something...hold on...maybe there really is a race war!

Seriously though, I think this whole race think is being masively overplayed. As a white person, I even feel a little uncomfortable or even amused when fellow white people complain about racism against them, since we've hardly suffered much oppression have we? Its just...meh. Hopkins should say whatever he likes, Calzaghe isn't going to be offended.

Maybe its a US thing. We have plenty of racism in the UK against Asian people, but the tension between black and white is nothing like what it sometimes appears to be in the US. The history just isn't there, or at least not to the same degree.

    I read something once:

"We need to keep ****ing each other until everybody is exactly the same shade of brown."

    ...or something.

I can't wait to see Hopkins face in the post fight interview if he looses!
well somebody had already said that

Alan minter middleweight champ said "i will never lose to a black man"

        He was fighting marvin hagler

hagler kicked his arse on minters home turf the UK

and he didnt even get to celebrate he was rained down with glass bottles
        by the white british fans

and this happened in the 80s

people act like racism stopped as soon as slavery did.

and to people that think hopkins is a racist look at all the antics hopkins
pulled in his career this is just another one of those antics no different
than the others if somehow this antic is somehow terrrible and the others
are just hopkins getting a mental advantage your dellusional

Well, I've never liked either guy so I win either way come Saturday. In fact, aside from Hatton, these are probably the two guys I despise more than anyone in boxing. So I'm all for this fight and seeing somebody get an L.

Unless of course we get a draw.

Thats terrible, but positive in the sence he beat him. I am not niave I don't think that racism isn't present in society today, but that doesn't mean I condone it. Whether or not you think I'm dellusional I believe Hopkins is a racist and hope that the same happens to him what happend to Alan Minter!

              What a prick
**** like these is the exact reason why i lost my respect to hopkins. it doesn't matter if his doing this for publicity its still wrong to push the "race" button. such a sad thing really

I don't have any clue why you guys are getting all bent out of shape for. The **** Hopkins said about Bird has BEEN said before, even by some of Birds peers IN THE NBA! futhermore he didn't say anything that wasn't true.

As a white person im not offended its ****** and shows how desprate Hopkins is, ve never seen such an attempt to get into someones head.

What pisses me off is if Joe said "Id never lose to a black boy" im pretty sure Nevada would not even sanction this bout.

You would never talk all that **** to Hopkins face, NEVER. I am not saying that because he is a professional boxer I am saying that because something tells me you aren't as tough as you would like to let on
