WTF?? So when did Miguel Cotto become a Boxer rather than a Brawler???

Cotto has ALWAYS been a capable boxer-puncher who often liked to use the ring, lateral movement, circle, even box on the backfoot, on the retreat.
From years ago when he first started getting exposure on HBO, anyone could watched him could see that.Comment

This **** is getting ridiculous!!! some of the people in these forums are the biggest hypocrites and have gotten their heads so far up their asses they can't smell or see the truth. So now after the lopsided beating of Alfonso Gomez, Cotto is now the reincarnation of Sugar Ray Robinson... some people are demented and delusional enough to think that this new "improved" Cotto can run around circles and box Floyd Mayweather into an UD... I mean Jesus ****ing Christ!!! can people be more ****ing un-biased please???
I love Miguel Cotto, I've said it a million times, he's a great fighter and in my top 5 list of current fighters, yes he has improved a lot in his last 3 fights but to now call him a technical boxer after what we saw against Gomez and deny the fact that he really is more of a straight-up brawler with skills is asinine!! the guy has made a name for himself by beating people up, a bully, and now a lot of you guys are saying that he would beat Tony Margarito by boxing him to a UD...when 2 months ago the same people were saying he was just a flat footed hard puncher and had no chance against a guy like Mayweather...I must be going insane.
Quoted for the truth...

Mayweather didn't run or fight like a ***** against Gatti either. Fighting a fighter 6 or 7 levels below you will do that.
For the thread creator:
Cotto has never fought like Ricky Hatton as you might believe. They only share body punching in common. Cotto is definately in the top 5 most skillful in the WW division when it comes to straight up boxing skills (which is pretty good, considering the division has slicksters in it like Mayweather, Collazo, Judah and Quintana). Cotto ****ing outboxed Judah for the most part, as well as beat Mosley primarily with his jab.
Don't ever ****ing say that a guy who can beat an elite with his jab is a straight up brawler.

You only have to look as far as his jab. It is weak, ineffective, and primarily a range-finder. Pure boxers need a good jab, period. Shane Mosley is definately not a boxer, like you said.Comment

Mosley's "power-boxing" style is very aggressive and he excels when trading at close or mid quarters. He's a speedy slugger. He's more effective that way than he when he boxes on the backfoot or laterally.
As said before, people just mistake Mosley is a pure boxer because he's fast and athletic.Comment
