This **** is getting ridiculous!!! some of the people in these forums are the biggest hypocrites and have gotten their heads so far up their asses they can't smell or see the truth. So now after the lopsided beating of Alfonso Gomez, Cotto is now the reincarnation of Sugar Ray Robinson... some people are demented and delusional enough to think that this new "improved" Cotto can run around circles and box Floyd Mayweather into an UD... I mean Jesus ****ing Christ!!! can people be more ****ing un-biased please???

I love Miguel Cotto, I've said it a million times, he's a great fighter and in my top 5 list of current fighters, yes he has improved a lot in his last 3 fights but to now call him a technical boxer after what we saw against Gomez and deny the fact that he really is more of a straight-up brawler with skills is asinine!! the guy has made a name for himself by beating people up, a bully, and now a lot of you guys are saying that he would beat Tony Margarito by boxing him to a UD...when 2 months ago the same people were saying he was just a flat footed hard puncher and had no chance against a guy like Mayweather...I must be going insane.

Yeah I think you are going insane. I have followed Cotto's career since the amateurs and that man has always had skills for boxing. That's why the peeps in P.R. never compared him to Tito because Tito dismantles careers and Cotto outclassed people when fighting them. They are completely two different fighters. Not sure how long you have been watching Cotto but he's always showed his excellence since the beginning of his career. See if you can dig up the old fights. I believe his defensive skill decreased as he progressed into the power hitter he is today but if you look when he first started he was a guy that had excellent defense and head movement and didn't take many shots. Now it seems like he's willing to take a shot to give a shot. His boxing ability was just recently more polished in the Mosley fight because the threat that Mosley posed. Cotto was never a brawler because to me brawler's are not as precise as Cotto is with his punches. Brawlers are more like Ricardo Mayorga, Vic Darchinyan who possess incredible power but lack in the skill department. In reality I believe Cotto is more accurately catagorized as a boxer/puncher.

you've officially exposed yourself shalifi - refer to cotto's amateur career and early pro career.

you should have consulted a cotto fan before this debacle of a thread.

Cotto has underrated boxing and counterpunching skills, it doesn't mean he's the best boxer in the world, he must've been a pretty good boxer to have reached the Olympics. He's been brawling more in the last few years though.

He has improved a lot over the past few fights, in particular his boxing skills, which I think were displayed the most against Mosley, especially in the later rounds.

The only thing I took from the Gomez fight is witnessing a type of ring swagger and ring confidence that was never there before. Granted, part of that had to do with his opponent being Gomez, but even during the interviews he seems to have more personality. I think we are seeing a new person beginning to develop

Watch his earlier fights. He used to box alot more. Somewhere along the way near the end of his 140 run till Judah he kinda IMO dumbed it down walking forward getting hit but KO'ing you in the long run. I think his team saw he was taking unnecesary punishment during that time. I dont think he can out box Mayweather I've never said that. He has sweet science in him and I'm not basing it on Gomez. Gomez was brought in there for 2 purposes. 1 make Cotto look good. 2 make Cotto look really good. Hyping up the fight with Marg. He's a very good boxer.

Co-sign that. He's a boxer-puncher but with such grinding body attacks and pressure he likes to mow down guys. He's a killer, basically.

by the look of Gomez's face and the TWO Kd's its evident Cotto neither ran or fought like a *****.
