WTF?? So when did Miguel Cotto become a Boxer rather than a Brawler???

Head movement, bob and weave, fighting on angles, those are techniques you apply in boxing. When I say running I mean to jab and back off, jab and back off etc, circling the ring to score points and win a decision. I want Cotto to fight Tony the same way he's been fighting up to this point. Jesus Christ why am I even explaining myself to you?Comment

Yall are truly overrating Cotto's boxing skills. IMO Cotto has "OK" boxing skills. Truth be told Mosley was never the greatest boxer he WAS fast and athletic more than a great boxer. Forrest and Winky Wright outboxed Mosley. In the fights with De la Hoya Mosley out fought De la Hoya in first fight never once did he out box De la Hoya. Mosley has never been the smartest fighter in the ring but that is neither here nor there. I will not take away from Cotto's win against Mosley because it was a good one a very good one.
People are saying a lot of hypocritical **** in this thread also.Comment

I dont think anyone is claiming Cotto is going to turn into Quintana or Whittaker. I also doubt Cotto would try and fight Margarito the way he fought Torres (which is what you appear to want).
Cotto will likely fight Margarito the way he fought Abdulaev. If you havent seen it then I'll use another example. He will probably Try and use a style and game plan similar to what Marquez used against Vazquez. He will combo use jab and combo in spots but attempt to avoid prolonged power punch trade offs.
Margarito like Vazquez will probably be able to force at least a few of these inside trades. So we'll see what happends then. One thing I'm pretty sure of is though that Cotto will not overnight be a jab move jab move 20 punch a round fighter.
Even when he "ran" from Mosley he was still throwing high volume and Landing 30+ shots.Comment

Fair enough, now we are both on the same page, can we kiss and make up please?I dont think anyone is claiming Cotto is going to turn into Quintana or Whittaker. I also doubt Cotto would try and fight Margarito the way he fought Torres (which is what you appear to want).

Yeah, I know Sunset my Aunt teaches at the school 2-3 blocks up from there. Good old Kendal 88. Still have lots of family there and visit often but only lived there for a couple of years.Comment

you came to that conclusion from the gomez fight? no way he beats mayweather. I don't think he could even beat dlh. but he is the clear 2nd best at welterweight right now and if he beats margarito and then quintana in a rematch than I think he deserves the #1 spot in the welter division but that still doesn't mean he could beat mayweather cuz he can't. mayweather would school him. only forrest has a chance against mayweather. and maybe dlh and maybe even mosley if he could use the right strategy but forrest has the best chance in mayweather's weight range that has a chance.Comment

Yup, good ol' Kendall. I go down there once in a while since I am living in Homestead/Florida City area and it's about 22 miles South from Kendall. It's become way overpopulated now, driving through 88th is a nightmare. How long ago did you live there?Comment

Yeah, OK......
