Los 7 Mares is a Mexican Seafood chain in San Diego Califas, they sponsor Tony. The food looks great, I went on their website, I'll be definitely checking that place out this year when I go to California.

Here's the thing for me; Arum wouldn't let Cotto, or any of his fighters for that matter, within a thousand miles of someone like Margarito unless it was under his flag. Just look at the guy's track record.. This is where Arum splits the pie and starts cashing in on the lucrative West Coast Mexican/Mexican American market by elevating Margarito to star status with a win over Cotto.

He retains his East Coast Puerto Rican holdings regardless. Business 101.

Arum is doing alright by Marg as he got him a title shot over someone he already beat pretty much straight after the loss to williams. pretty much guaranteeing a victory. he is also sticking him in for his biggest paycheck no doubt against the top drawing welter behind mayweather. i bet marg couldnt give a **** who arum favours as thanks to arum he is back on track. and 2 time champ ta boot.

I think Arum sees Cotto's fan base, fighting style, and overall appeal and sees $$$.

And I base it on a simple question, who would you rather see fight:

          Floyd vs Cotto

          or

          Floyd vs Margarito

I don't think Margarito and Cotto should fight. Why should Margarito want to give away the title he just earned? After Cotto, he may end up with nothing.

Arum just wants Clottey to get the title without fighting Margarito. He doesn't care about what's best for Tony...

Margarito should fight Clottey, and then try for a unification fight with the winner of Williams vs. Quintana.

Bottem line is that Cotto is his darling but he obviously is still thinking about Tony and you and all Tony fans should be happy Tony's back in contention where as any other promotor wouldnt have known what to do with him
              actually thats not true

Bob has long been negligent about the handling of Margarito's career. Maybe you should look at it as why Margarito hasn't drawn. I mean he is an action fighter who has been in a lot of entertaining fights and fights anyone at anytime. Yet he toiled on undercard after undercard not expecting to get any break.

my theory is this. Bob has had a good relationship with Fernando Beltran and if you notice all of the Beltran managed/promoted fighters have had serious push from Bob. JL Castillo, Jorge Arce, Erik Morales and now JCC Jr have all benefitted from getting Top Ranks undivided attention. However, at the same time non Beltran managed Latin fights such as Margarito, Martin Castillo, Jesus Chavez (pre GBP), Famoso Hernandez received little if any promotional push from them.

and you dont know the entire story behind what Tony was offered to fight Cotto. right after the fight with Clottey they were discussing possible fights for Tony which included names like Vivian Harris, Luis Collazo, and at the very top of their lists were Paul Williams and Miguel Cotto. At around Feb I think they submitted their list of names as to who they think they could fight next, met with Top Rank to discuss, and draw out a plan to make their top fight, the one with Miguel Cotto, happen. Now mind you this is in the middle of Tony about to become a free agent so knowing this, Arum puts a caveat to him getting his fight with Cotto like Arum promised. He had to sign on for three more years after the Cotto fight. Tony wasn't feeling this because, at the time, Top Rank really never promoted Tony the way they promoted other Mexican, Fernando Beltran managed, fighters so he wanted to see what was there for him. Angered by this they began their own negotiations with Dan Goossen about making his mandatory against Paul Williams who had been calling Tony's name for a while. When the negotiations about this fight got to Bob, Bob tried to put a stop to it with the WBO, making everyone fly to Puerto Rico to straighten it out. Once the money was set Tony decided to fight Williams for somewhat less than what he would have got for Cotto but also with facet, if he won, his name would be the main one out there for Cotto to fight.

He took a dangerous fight with an opponent he did not have to because like he had said all along he would be willing to fight the toughest opponents provided they would be willing to fight him. He took a chance most fighters wouldn't have and I respect him for that.

You may not like the man and thats cool its never been my job to win the world over on Tony's behalf but please do give the man his due. Considering the other names he could have fought (Harris and Collazo) him opting for Williams when Arum tried to pull a bait and switch on him was high respectful of the fight game and his word that he would fight anyone.

and as a fan yeah I am happy he is back in the mix and Arum did right by him by putting him on the PPV of Cotto Mosley in order for him to look good and gain momentum.

Nice piece of information my friend, that was a good read. I somehow always felt that Tony was not being handle properly by Arum.
