Its indisputable that this fight ruined him physically. His last performances have shown that he is a diminished fighter. All becasue of this fight. All because they let him take an ass beating for 12 rounds.

I disagree. I think he has bulked up so much that he is now too slow to be an effective fighter. That is what I see moreso than physical shotness. He still has it at times during a fight, but he is just a snail out there because he bulked up so much.

On the subject of Lacy, I just got back from a holiday in the States and can confirm that Lacy has just been awarded the coveted fourth star by his local MacDonald's head office. This has been achieved despite the regular and heavy soiling of his underwear and frequent epileptic fits that have occured ever since Calzaghe retired him on that fateful evening.

The corner should have got him out of there. I'm all for giving a man a chance especially in a world title fight but some beatings you just don"t recover from. Lacy was a shadow of his former self in his recent fight. Should the ref have stopped it? Probably. I can understand the argument that there wasn't really one specific moment where Lacy was worse than any other but there was a good 20 minute period where he just couldn't respond. It was cruel really.

The thing that pissed me off more than anything though was Shaw calling for the corner to chuck the towel in with 10 seconds to go. Yeah really good of you mate - wait until he's had the mother of all beatdowns and when the fight is over THEN call for the towel. ****.

At no point was Lacy out on his feet during the fight, the referee did a good job overall. It should have been up to Lacy's corner to pull him out (which they should have done).

For some reason, nobody in this thread has mentioned that Jeff Lacy suffered a horrible torn rotator cuff injury which threw him out of action for a long time, since then he has only had one comeback fight where he looked poor. It is not unusual for a fighter to look poor and hesitant when they've suffered a potentially career ending injury.

I thought at the time that the fight should've been stopped. But understand why it wasnt. Lacy never looked like he'd be knocked out, he was ALWAYS very responsive to his corner, he was always coming forward and he always had the KO power to end the fight.

He looked OK from memory in the Tsypko fight until he tore the rotator cuff, he looked like he was going to make short work of Tsypko.

Lacy was hurt bad in that fight a few times, he'd never admit it but you could see the reaction on his face when JC landed the bigger shots.

Lacy is one tough ****er that's for sure
