    What do you think?
    second is a tough one...

in terms of popularity it would be judah (as far as names go judah is the second biggest "name" on his resume) but Malignaggi, Quintana, and Torres are all very good fighters as well.

its hard for me to pick a clear second.

malignaggi is a good pure boxer
quintana has improved greatly since his loss to cotto (especially by beating williams)
and torres gave cotto some problems early but we all know how cotto won in the end.

each of these guys plays a big role in cotto's career.

Mosley and Judah were "names" that now allow cotto to make bigger fights (for more fame and money)

I believe Malignaggi is the stepping-stone to beating floyd mayweather (since he is a less talented; has less power version of Floyd Mayweather).

Paulie to me is the closest boxer currently (in style overall) to floyd mayweather and i think you need to fight paulie in preparation of that because fighting steve forbes (like de la hoya is doing) or Jose Luis Castillo (like hatton did) is NOT the type of fighter you need before mayweather since the styles arent similar.

I think quintana and torres were good punchers and cotto survived and went on to beat both pretty convincingly.

so its hard to say; thus i declare it a 3 way tie (malignaggi, quintana, and torres)

Yeah, that was a big fight vfor him, because thats the guy who beat him at the try outs and got the gold medal. Other than that every other fight same ****. Maybe Quintana because it was built as PR vs PR. or Judah, Super Zab Judah.

It wasn't the tryouts. It was the opening round of the Sydney Olympics. He also was beaten in the amatuers by Kelson Pinto, who he beat in the pros. Pinto participated in the Olympics and was eliminated by Abdulaev as well.

Definately Judah as far as I can tell..

Cotto has a little bit of the Ali effect for some reason. When he fights people it gives their names more gloss. Several of his previous opponents are now champs, but of course in some cases there is dispute and controversy regarding their current holding. The 140 class isn't exactly 147 either.. There are tumbleweeds in the top 10 down there.

I thought it was a good win. Abdulaev was a pretty good fighter until Cotto took him apart.

Personally, I'm only impressed with his chicken dances..

But since I have to defend my choice I think people also recall a time when he had all of these:
