When I think pure boxer. I think of someone who LEARNED the craft and excelled at it incredibly. Natural born boxer is someone who is just naturally talented, either athletically or for this particular athletic situation.

I think Mayweather MAY be the better natural born boxer of the two. I think he has that on lock for the entire sport. But, Calderon has had to LEARN the skills he's had and has done that better then anyone in the game, in my opinion. Mayweather was the natural, Calderon is the PURE boxer. Mayweather learned well too, don't get me wrong, but he was also just naturally blessed, so to speak.

In my opinion, anyway. It's so close, I can see people completely disagreeing with me, and I'd understand it.

I hope I kind of explained myself a bit better.

As you say, it's very close. Obviously Mayweather has more power than Calderon, who is fighting with a handicap. But Calderon has a massive god-given advantage... he is a southpaw! Being a natural lefty is basically being born with the chance to fight with an unorthodox style and the correct “power” hand.

Another thing when it comes to ”learned skills”, is that Mayweather's inside game is excellent, and because possibly because of his size we dont even KNOW if Ivan can put on an old school show like Floyd did against Hatton. To Calderon credit, I was very surprised that Mayweather fought that fight as if he was Bernard Hopkins, so maybe Calderon would surprise me too.

Now that I think about it I am almost shocked at the fact Floyd not only held his own but trounced Hatyton one on one on the inside. I mean, that is Ricky's BREAD AND BUTTER, that is the part of the game that made him who he is. Floyd literally beat on someone world class at what they were best at, good ****.
