You don't get the larger picture here.

When you say "us fans" or "we the fans" who are you talking about? Are you speaking for everybody?

Lets put it like this, what if only a 100 people wanted to see this fight and you were the spokesperson for those 99 other fans. And then I or somebody told you that it's better to wait so the fight gets bigger, what would you say?

Would you still be selfish and ignore the bigger picture here. That if waiting a lil longer, the fight can go from a 100 fans to a 1000 and from a 1000 to 10,000 etc,.

So while you 100 hardcore fans don't care about all of that, the fact remains that it's a business and a job to them and not just a hobby and they will do what they think is right to collect more money for their efforts (training, promoting, fighting).

    It's the way it goes.

WHO SAYS THEY ARE FIGHTING NEXT YEAR? THE *****S..

      certainly isnt Floyd..

Floyd told MArg, if we wait ti will be bigger and better. he hasnt said that to Cotto, he wants no part of COTTO.
Margarito ****ted on himself losing to Paul Williams. He doesn't matter unless he beats Cintron.

          True!

So far what we have heard from Floyd's own mouth when asked about Cotto:

          - Cotto must become a CEO before i fight him
          - Cotto must get his ppv game up before i fight him
          - I cant do business with Arum because he's a grumpy old man
          - Who's Cotto?
          - Im not impressed with Cotto
          - Cotto knows i will beat him
          - Im not trying to fight no WW's
          - I've accomplished everything i had to do in the sport
          - I'm just focusing on Mayweather Promotions now
          - Im retired
          - etc.........

I laugh everytime I look at Margarito's record. He lost to a guy that Cory Spinks whiped his ass with with no trouble what so ever whle good ol' Antonion struggled.

He lost to a guy that Cosme Rivera ( a guy every elite and some not even elite, welter defeated including Judah) tko'd at one point.

He is pathetic. The only real claim of legitimacy he has is beating Cintron and we have yet to find out if that was legit or not. It remains to be determined in the rematch.

I sure hope he gets beaten by Cintron so we don't hear from him again.

As I've told you, you're missing the bigger picture. The ENTIRE boxing world doesn't just live here in boxingscene message boards. I saw alot of people complaining about Delahoya-Mayweather being made on alot of threads yet the fight broke records.

So Floydboys or Cottoboyz, it doesn't matter. Fact is, then more this fight is being denied then more hype it generates and bigger it gets. It's not an excuse for Floyd, it's just a fact.

So instead of Cotto-floyd doing 900,000 they might go to 1.5 mill just based on Floyd avoiding (ducking?) Cotto when the fight gets made.

And that's extra coin for both guys, something you as as a paying custumer may not care about after a long day of at your job, but the fightes themselfs do care about as boxing is their full-time job.

As a fan, of course I want to see the biggest fights. As the type of fan I am, I want boxing to be a big deal. As the type of fan I am, it upsets me that the Vazquez-Marquez series and the Corrales-Castillo series are basically unknown outside of boxing circles. So, as the type of fan I am, I would love for Mayweather-Cotto to be the biggest sports event of the year. In 2008 it won't be. In 2009 it might be.

That's not to say that it couldn't happen in 2008 and then AGAIN in late 2009 and still be the biggest sports event of 2009. That said, I'm not going to get myself worked up over it since it's not going to happen that way.

Oscar De la Hoya said the same exact things using different words as to why he wouldn't fight Trinidad and Vargas and YET those fights did eventually happen and were big events that helped build Oscar's reputation. Have some patience man.

How big would this fight be in 09, if by any chance either fighter were to lose by then? Right now u have 2 hot undefeated champs who are both in thier PRIME. One is the #1 WW in the world, while the other is the #2 WW, and seen as the #1 threat to Floyd crown. One slip up from either fighter, and this potential history making bout is down the drain.
