Why didn't Joe fight a prime Roy Jones???
Have Calzaghe fans lost their minds?

So then you believe that Hopkins is way past his prime and that your "100% comment" comes from the age factor???
How do you expect Joe to get credit if you feel Hopkins is that far gone that he has no chance of winning?Comment

Not a word of a lie in that article and I'm a big Joe Calzaghe fan. Some of you should give it a read.
As already stated though, some of B-Hop's fans are equally guilty of mindless delusions, so I don't think it's entirely fair to mark out Calzaghe fans.
Forget all this bravado bull**** anyway, come April the 19th the predictions of foam-mouthed nuthuggers won't mean anything and the only conclusion will come from Calzaghe or Hopkins. I just hope they don't change their tune.
For the record: I do think Calzaghe will win by around 8 rounds to 4, which I would call comfortable-ish. It'll be a frustrating night for him in parts though.Comment

No person on a boxing forum could tell you the straight up facts on that.
The best anyone can tell you is that A) Calzaghe wasn't a big name at all while Jones was in his prime and B) Frank Warren would have never allowed it even if Jones was interested (which he almost certainly wasn't). Warren is a bastard, but a smart bastard and at the time of Jones' prime, Calzaghe simply wasn't ready and by the time he was, Jones had been knocked out a few times.
Just a case of unfortunate timing is the best I can conclude.Comment

Funny article. The author attacks the Calzaghe fans for saying that Hopkins never have fought a real challenger, with accusing Calzaghe for never have fought a real challenger .............? Can only see this as just one more US v. EU argument. Case closed.Comment

Calzaghe might win. I pick him to. I will bet on Hopkins though, and it wont be a long shot. Some Calzaghe fans fit this guys discription, PERFECTLY. It's pretty sad, actually.Comment

Joe actually was once quoted, I forget where, as saying the one guy he'd never really want to fight is Roy Jones. Just saying. No person on a boxing forum could tell you the straight up facts on that.

The same reason Dariusz Michalczewski didn't fight Jones, Roy wanted no part of either fighter. Jones even admitted on FNF a couple of months ago that fighting Calzaghe was not worth the risk/reward factor. Then Brian Kenney asked Roy what changed now that he's willing to fight Calzaghe when he wouldn't fight Joe or Dariusz 7 years ago and Roy said "I have nothing to lose."Comment

Once again, there is a quote out there right now where Calzaghe states Jones was the one guy he'd never wanna fight. Trust me, I like Calzaghe more then I like Jones, but facts are facts. The same reason Dariusz Michalczewski didn't fight Jones, Roy wanted no part of either fighter.
