Povetkin Protests Klitschko-Thompson Bout

Why rush Povetkin into a fight with Wlad? Let Wlad Ko thompson then go after Wlad then, I doubt the IBF would strip Wlad at the moment if he agrees to fight both Thompson and povetkin this year then that would be enough for him to keep his belts.

I think what they are trying to do.. Is get Wlad striped ALREADY of his IBF belt.. so Povetkin can claim it.. without having to actually win it.. It smells really FISHY.. Especially when Povetkin's OWN managment said he wasn't ready for Wlad..

As far as I remember Tompson was an WBO mandatory long before Povetkin. He was a mandatory and Ibragimov was supposed to fight him.


As for Povetkin I remember clearly that at one point his management was very clear that they are not gonna fight Wlad right after Chambers.

Why don't Povetkin and Tony just have an elimination bout? That would make more sense then anything.

IBF and WBO heavyweight champ Wladimir Klitschko have according to German paper Bild Zeitung received an offer of five-million euro from Sauerland Event to face Alexander Povetkin, the IBF mandatory challenger - and turned it down. Wladimir insists on fighting WBO mandatory Tony Thompson in July, but the matter is complicated. Sauerland has protested the matter to the IBF and a decision is expected soon. [details]

I don't know why povetkin is so excited to get into the ring with wlad cuz he is gonna get KTFO. I don't think he'll ever be ready for wlad even 10, 20 fights down the line. Thompson is the #1 contender for his WBO belt so povetkin should just shut up and wait his turn for a beating.

It doesn't matter what Povetkin's press agent had to say, the fact is Povetkin wanted the IBF mandatory status and got it. He deserves the to get Klitschko's next fight. Klitschko could have resolved any potential problems by calling out Povetkin as soon as possible. The fact that he is willing to take the fight against Thompson, who is clearly an easier opponent than Povetkin, makes me wonder about his motives.

When the sanctioning bodies order the champion to fight the mandatory they usually allow a period of 180 days. Klitschko could in theory fight both men in 6 months. Why the delays? Neither of these fights are going to be on PPV, so what is the problem?
