After analyzing the fight in slow motion and from different angles, I have no doubt that the butt was intentional. Winky was extremely concerned about Bernard's headbutting before the fight, and he was right about it. Emanuel Stweard said during the commentary that Bernard has a history of headbutting. He was right. Hopkins tried to headbutt Taylor too, but only managed to cut his head. Had the headbutt been more successful (over an eye) then who knows, maybe Taylor would have lost too?

For the record, I think Taylor won both of those fights and fair decisions were given.

Calzaghe was headbutted in the Bika fight. Bika had to fight dirty because he doesn't have the technical tools to beat a guy like Calzaghe legitimately. Joe ended up having to protect himself more after that headbutt and wasn't able to put his full effort into his fight.

See what I'm getting at? Headbutts can totally **** up a fighter. Ask Tyson! I seem to remember something about him being so enraged by Holyfield's butting that he bit part of Holyfield's ear off!
Joe and Bernard have alot in common.

They also both tend to lead with their heads at times.

I have no doubt Hopkins throws in the occasional dirty trick.. So does Hatton, Mayweather, Klitschko, Cotto, and a ****load of other guys who are at the top of their divisions..

I don't agree with you, Addison. Joe doesn't have a history of headbutting people, and just because those other guys you mentioned do it, it doesn't make it OK. It's wrong, it's not good sportsmanship, and it makes me lose respect when I see any boxer breaking rules. Calzaghe doesn't need to fight dirty (although he can give as good as he gets when he wants to) he can win on pure skill alone. That's the main reason I like Joe. Skills. Talent. And to top it all off, he's a pretty decent guy, not an egomaniac. He deserves to win against Hopkins.

No I actually agree with him. When remembering the most famous fighters you think of De La Hoya and Trinidad.

However, Joe is underrated and will be remembered as one of the best (if not the best) super middleweight of all time. So Joe will be remembered, just not as much as De La Hoya (He might be bigger then trinidad though)

There is Popkins fans around here. They support him.
You have to look at the circumstances, Popkins can't win.
