De la hoya could punch even harder than he does, it doesn't matter when he doesn't have enough gas in the tank to fight 12 rounds. Cotto's a work horse. More importantly you have to be persistent enough to hit your target. Otherwise the harder punches don't matter..especially when they stop being thrown by round 8.
If De La Hoya Couldnt Hurt Mayweather... .. .

My reason is because the only advantage Cotto has is in power. When you really look at it thats not really a advantage because neither PBF or Cotto is a one punch KO fighter. They both wear their opponents down. PBF with the accumulation of accurate punches and Cotto accumulation with less accuaracy but heavier shots.
Speed, ring smarts, versatilily, accuaracy, defense, experience, stamina are all advantages for PBF. Intangibles can't be measured until they get in the ring and actually fight. Both have fough through injuries and cuts.
So what is there left for me to really believe Cotto can beat PBF?
People can talk about Cotto's jab all they want to but Cotto is shorter in height than PBF and has a shorter reach than PBF. IMO that means in order for Cotto's jab to be effective he has to get in range. If Cotto is in range to land his jab that means he is already in range to be hit with a variety of punches from PBF while he is just in range to land his jab.
Like I said Cotto can't beat PBF and PBF is going to look very good beating Cotto.Last edited by tredh; 04-01-2008, 01:48 PM.Comment
