You're harder to hit than a pesky Mig.. Forget it.

      You'll say anything.

Obviously, his fight against Winky was at a catch weight and lower then what he fought against Tarver at so that also had something to do with the physical difference, but more so I think the strategy was to physically hurt Tarver, whereas against Winky, he knew he couldn't hurt him so it was more of a tactical approach and strong emphasis on conditioning training rather than power training.

Against Calzaghe, he knows Joe is faster and has a higher workrate. He knows that even if he trains hard in these areas, Joe will still have the advantage. So his game plan will be to work on power and counter punching. He will try to hurt/stun Joe around the mid rounds, just like against Tarver, which in theory will slow down Joe's workrate and make him more cautious.

        Thoughts?

Hopkins never hurt Tarver ,has anybody actually seen this fight ?

Hopkins had Tarver down but he was 'nt really hurt ,people act like Hopkins handed Tarver an ass whooping when in reallity there were very very little punches thrown in the whole fight Hopkins threw next to nothing but Tarver threw even less thats why he got the decision

This thread seems to be like almost every Calzaghe-Hopkins thread: the Brits are questioning the Americans' knowledge of Calzaghe, and the Americans are questioning the Brits knowledge of Hopkins.

Not sure how much of that is deserved, but I've seen all of Calzaghe's last 20+ fights, and about 12 of Hopkins', and I still think that the main thing going into this is to expect the unexpected.

Hopkins is possibly the smartest boxer in the sport. De la Hoya knows how to make more money, but inside the ropes Hopkins has more smarts than anyone.

I think that Calzaghe will win, but a lot of people on here have posted about what they see as Calzaghe's defensive weaknesses. Whatever weaknesses he has, Hopkins will exploit it at least once in the fight, but I just don't think Hopkins has enough left now to capitalise on any success that he has.

I think a younger Hopkins could've stopped Jermain Taylor when he was clearly tired in the last few rounds. But an older Hopkins couldn't do it. He caught de la Hoya with a perfect punch, but in terms of applying pressure to an opponent, wearing them down and then finishing them off with a sustained attack(like against Tito), Hopkins hasn't done it for several years.

Shut the **** up. All you do is run around the threads defending Calzaghe like your his god damn girlfriend.
