Verno Phillips Upsets Cory Spinks with Split Nod

I scored the fight 115-113 Verno Phillips. Cory was slow and plodding, and his foot work just wasn't the same as previous fights. Spinks just didn't land enough punches, Verno outworked him. I was amazed Verno was able to hit Spinks as he lunged in. Cory's reflexes just aren't the same, the trainer change looks to have affected him.

either that, or don king bet mad dough on the +450 underdog.

I didn't find the fight too boring. It was way better than his fight with Jermain. I can't see how Cory lost more than 3-4 rounds.

He may be boring as hell to casual fans but he shouldn't be robbed like that. Don King being the crook he is...

I was considering taking those odds because Verno can fight. If I did I would have thought I'd thrown my money away until the decision was read.

Yeah to be fair alot of what Spinks threw didnt always connect and was taken on the gloves by Verno but still the only time Verno really landed was when Spinks decided to trade with him. Im no Spinks fan but Im a fan of fairness. Spinks earned the win.

this was the worst robbery i seen since chavez vs. whitaker. how can the judges say phillips won more than 3 rounds. cory should have boxed more in the fight than slugging sometimes. i think he was just trying to give the hometown some action. there was even some boos. i'm from STL. advice to cory neve fight in STL again,they don't appreciate you.
