Boxing fans make too much of a loss nowadays. Remember Joe Louis had a loss when he was the same age as Andy Lee. Many fighters are overprotected and have padded records, never fighting anyone who's a risk, because one loss means so much. This approach hurts the sport IMO.

It's sickening how some people will forget about a fighters wins, yet repeatedly bring up a single loss. Anybody can have a bad night, any opponent can come up with his best career performance. Everybody remembers Wlad's and Lennox's losses, yet they don't talk as much about all their wins.

Andy Lee is very talented - he's an excellent boxer on the outside, but he needs to learn how to deal with the inside tactics of less talented tough guys like Vera.

Another thing I noticed is that Andy didn't go to the body very often. In other fights I've seen of his he's gone to the body pretty decently. I think and hope Andy will come back from this.
It was definitely a case of Lee getting overly confident. He didn't feel like he had to really work the guy. Not to take anything away from Vera- he fought such a determined fight.

**** man, this is ridiculous. Our OWN fans write fighters off after 1 loss. 1 loss like these men should be godly and that "0" should never have a blemish on it. Andy Lee is STILL a top prospect that has some flaws he will definitely work on. A loss early is much better than a loss late and he will learn from this and be a better fighter. EVERYONE loses and just because you have a loss doesn't mean you are a bum and you suck. So learn the ****ing sport or go watch golf or something, you are the fans I can't stand.
          I agree with that...

I was hoping vera would pull it off (which he did) and before the fight many people were writing him off as a guy who is just going to fight for a paycheck and go home...

now that lee lost everyone has doubts about him...

as far as lee/pavlik goes i will say this...if lee fights pavlik like he did vera last night pavlik WOULD kill him...simple as that...lee isn't a very big guy (body frame wise...he's really thin and not a lot of muscle) and he's a pretty good puncher but if pavlik can take shots from miranda, taylor, etc. i think he can take them from lee...if lee came close with him pavlik would burry him and knock him out...

you cant argue that...you cant argue if lee fought the fight last night against pavlik that he would get dominated...

but yes losses happen and i dont think its right to write boxers off over a loss.

im not writing him off but im saying he's not close to being ready for a puncher like pavlik.

lee and his team should be trying to get a rematch with vera and fight the RIGHT fight next time...

Lee was just a bluff. Where is his bandwagon? Its half empty now after he got KTFO.

Your boy will get KTFO the same way once he faces Kelly Pavlik.

I said the same thing when Williams Lose...

Why was PW being written of after only 1 defeat?
Why was Carlos Quintana written off after only one defeat?
And why hasnt Margarito been Written off after 5 defeats..?

Thats the difference between mma and boxing, mma gives their fighters a chance and a shot at redemption...there fanbase is more loyal and less critical...PW will be back, and Carlos Quintana has came back and I dont know about Lee but at least give he a chance….

                    come on people...

                      True...True...

I actually think its either Abraham or no one, if Abraham cant do it then I dont see who can at 160, at 168lb Pavlik gets owned by any top 5 fighter.
